7.2 GB update?

I read the update notes but it seems hard to believe that my game without DLC requires a 7.2GB update for what they put in the patch notes. It seems they are more likely pre-loading the DLC which is a bad thing (not only for our bandwidth, yeah hard to believe that some of us still have a limitation of 350GB/ month, but also of our disk space) to do for those that will not buy it for a long time or ever.

Which is it Frontier? Does it really require a 7.2GB update for 1.2 or are you pre-loading DLC onto our computers for we may never buy or buy well into the future?

Pretty sure they're pre-loading. I purchased the DLC (to play around with the new building pieces, mainly) and didn't have to install anything after.

A 7.2GB Update doesn't mean your game gets that much bigger. It's like 90% just changes so maybe a few MBs extra.
But yes, DLC content is in the update.

Thanks, I understand that. It is a shame the way that Steam can have them re-write all the data on update, however I have games on Steam that do not do that and only have to download the update to apply, not the full game all over again. I'm starting to wonder if it's a developer choice how they do it.

I'll download the update, my current PZ is 9.18GB, let's see how large it is after the update completes, because quite honestly if it only goes up a GB or two, it wasn't worth the bandwidth to download it.

But let's see what it is after the update completes.

yeah, all DLC content is downloaded, regardless of ownership. You can see that here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Zoo\win64\ovldata
folders content1 and content2 are the two DLCs

after update pz folder is 9.78 GB before it was 9.18 GB

thanks frontiers for wasting 7.2 GB of my bandwidth and time to download a roughly 600mb update and 510 MB of that is dlc content

And you really shouldn't be wasting roughly 1GB of my disk space on DLC if i haven't bought it

The 7.2gb took me about 20 minutes to get installed. It's no trouble. And yes, it won't Litterally be adding that to the size of the game. Probably 5 or 6gb will be replacing old code.
