Realizing that companies need to protect their games I've always wondered how people could download full length movies without commercials and full games without DRM. It seems the pirates aren't having any issues stripping that stuff out. Also wondering what the cost of licensing DRM solutions is versus the loss of sales to linux users.
This sucks but what can you do..
Linux release looks unlikely as it looks like its using the same engine as Planet Coaster and this game fails to run under Linux. I don't know if this is down to the engine used or if Denuvo is the cause.
I have added this to my wishlist anyway along with all DLC's for JWE/Planet coaster (I own these but no longer use windows) and will buy once the games run on linux.
Frontier, if you read this,
Please consider supporting Linux either through Native ports or via Steamplay/Proton and please also consider removing Denuvo.
Planet Zoo will be a PC exclusive game.
Ok I'll leave.
It's ok, I guess I'll find another dev who wants my money. Maybe for next releases you could use a DRM that's at the very least compatible with SteamPlay. You'll get the protection you so dearly desire and you'll open up your game to more markets all at the same time!
I've migrated to Linux after buying and playing Planet Coaster, so I coundn't get a refund unfortunately.
On the other hand that's devs problem - after problems I had with PC I'm not buying their stuff any more (and I would if I could use it). I know my money alone is not that much for them, but there's more ppl like me and as previously stated Denuvo costs as well (and does not help one bit).
Your choice devs
Mark me down as +1 for Linux support please, in any form.
At least consider patching the useless Denuvo out after a couple of weeks/months so we could potentially run it via WINE/Proton. :)
So to confirm the game won't run on any version of Linux even those who may use VM on Linux?
Also how is the performance impact when the CPU is under load from other tasks due to encryption / drm?
Is it 64 bit optimized to be able to handle newer generation Ryzen CPU's, while a CPU is under load this also helps especially those running intensive tasks i've noticed games like MHW choke hard when a CPU is under the slightest load while using encryption.
As I said, nothing has been announced that would deliberately break Proton compatibility, although Planet Coaster seems pretty bugged on Proton according to ProtonDB.
As for VMs, unless you have complete GPU passthrough do not expect it to run at all as I would presume it is a DirectX11 (or 12) game incompatible with current emulated graphics drivers included with desktop VM software.
+ 1 to add Steamplay
