Is it the first time you've played or it's just suddenly not working? I'm not an expert at all (understatement of the year!) but when my game wasn't starting the other day I just rebooted the computer, and that did the trick.

Hi, I followed your steps as I am having the same issue. I know I don't have a gaming laptop, but every other game I play (basically only Sims) works fine, even with a bunch of expansion packs and custom content installed.
I downloaded the game yesterday and got as far as creating an Avatar but after that nothing worked anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and the game multiple times, disabled my Anti Virus, ran as Administrator, and it is still not working. I don't know what to do. I wish there was a number I could call but there's nothing. I keep getting the same answers.

Well, in short ... you're right about it not being a gaming laptop.
I'd suggest using stuff like this to figure what you can and what you can not run:

Thanks, I looked over it and basically, I need a new laptop to play this game.
I will try my husbands. From what I know, he has a i-7 and 16GB RAM, not sure about the graphics card.
This was very helpful!!! Thank you.

Hi just wanted to touch base with you again. I am now on my husband's laptop and I got the game to start but it is painfully lagging.. I had to exit the game it was unbearable. I updated my drivers for my graphics card and I am still having the same issue. At this point I am just out of ideas.

Could you check his specs as with your laptop too please?

Ok, it's only 8GB RAM which should still be enough. I suspect that the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 is the issue. I already requested a refund but it says I "played the game" for 3h, so I am not sure if it'll get approved.

I was thinking about getting a used graphics card from nvidia and putting it into my husband's laptop. But A) I don't know if the system will support it and B) there is ONE stripped screw that prevents me from opening the laptop fully.

Yeah, integrated graphics really can't do much even if that is one of the more powerful ones. :/ After 2 hours it's pretty difficult to get a refund, the last thing I could suggest is geforce go though that costs like 5$/month or something.

I might be able to somehow get that stripped screw out and put a graphics card in the laptop. I don’t really expect to get a refund.
Thank you for your help and fast replies though!
