Medals basically just compile an average of stats. Idk the average where they become gold/silver whatever.. but they're basically just higher accumilations of those 4 stats.
If you're looking to breed a higher stat animal, It's more likely if someonthing is already at a base high (You can downgrade though. it's purely RNG)
The higher your 'stats' are, the higher rating they will have.. that's a more accurate and easy-to-read measure if an animal will attract more visitors or not. (EXample. my grey wolves are both gold stars.. but one is 1605, and the other is 1583. There isn't much difference in them, but statistically, that 3% more in fertility gains them more rating.
"Medals' (or ratings) Draw in more customers and give more donations. It's worthwhile to invest in Gold animals when you can.
I'm just saying.. like.. there is a difference. It's a noticable difference at the start.. Mid/late. or really anytime after you set up 1 or 2 good pens, It doesnt' matter.
OP, yeah. you can ignore them for the most part. Early game investment is a thing though!
