I've had this problem too, where I put water for my Hippos yet it was showing a negative number for the water area.

How I fixed it was, firstly making sure that the water is not too deep (seems to be a issue when the water is really deep), and that the animal has access point in and out of the water

If that doesn't work, try saving and reloading, might just be a visual glitch that will fix itself

Same thing for me. It often happens to me to have this problem there. I have done tests by doing two identical habitats with a small pond and there is always one of them that has this damn problem of water point in negative.

I have to work a long time on this water point to be able to make it recognized by the game. It's a shame because this game has a lot of potential, it's great to work for the welfare of animals but, at the moment, is almost unplayable because there are too many bugs.

Wake up Frontier !!!

It became much less of a problem for me when I finally used the radar tool effectively. The little radar circle at the bottom left (or H on my keybinds) and select the Habit Space (or whatever it's called again) option, and then click the animal. It'll show a blue area for where animals can actually go to. In a lot of cases, the edge from land to water is too steep for animals, or plants or rocks block the pathing. With the radar tool you can see much clearer where potential areas are that animals can't move past. If you changed a few things, remember to unpause your game inbetween, as the pathing only updates if you're not paused ingame. Good luck!

@Datura87 Thanks you very much for your tip with the radar tool - now it works for me :))).

That radar tool was a wonder for me. I couldn't figure out why some things had such pitiful values (climbing, shelter, water, etc.)... it was because the animals couldn't access them!

Thank you Datura, I'll try this!
