sounds like games a buggy mess?
Hi, Ive been watching and waiting to buy this for a while now but like half the topics are complaints about something being buggy/crashing. Is it really that bad? Any different than beta? Would like to play but $40 seems high for something that is playable half the time. Thanks.

Many people seem to have a lot of problems, some of which turn out to be an inability to understand the game mechanics, others are bugs. So far I haven't had any bigger problems with this game, so I'd suggest you try it and make good use of your 2 hours refund time.

yes i can confirm that there are a lot of bugs. maybe wait 2-3 months and buy it then :)

All the issues that made the game difficult to play cleared up for me after the last couple of updates. Since then I have had no problems getting connected, no screen freezes when logging on, and it has only crashed twice when I was exiting the game. Sure there are a couple of things that are still present but nothing that is a show stopper and the game plays well. I agree with Hlaine in that the game mechanics can be a bit difficult at first but once you learn them for the most part money is no longer an issue and you can build whatever you want. I strongly suggest you have a pretty up to date PC because it can get laggy with large zoos. The game has a lot of detail and management to it however so be prepared for that. And yes....there are things that can be improved and there are still some bugs but it is very playable.

Hi, fresh player here. 17 hours in game (nearly straight, Jeepers this game is neat), not a bug yet. Nothing i've noticed. AMD system, maybe a gen old.

most issues show up or arise when you are playing the game at least 40-50 hours, i.e. not playing the polished career mode and when you start to run a zoo with at least 2k visitors (depending on your specific PC specs)

Yup haven't touched Career at all, only done franchise. Had a big ol' zoo with 1400 concurrent guests. Not even a framerate sneeze.

I love this game. 290 hours play and counting. I'm not saying there are no bugs; the franchise trading market is a big one for me (sadly I don't have steam beta turned on, so I can't turn it off), but it's clearly not unplayable providing your specs are good enough. I am starting to suspect the minimum specs were understated, however. That might explain quite a few of the angry posts I see here.

It's a bit buggy, but also a bit hard to be honest - the learning curve is steep - and a lot of what I thought were bugs are actually gameplay features I didnt understand entirely.

Things like work zones, the correct number of staff assigned to said work zones and budgeting are essential.

Staff getting stuck on paths, rides not working properly unless you restart the game after placement, and other annoyances are bugs.

Then you have greedy people in the franchise market place - thats all on the players.

I did not have many problems until the latest big patch. But those problems got fixed with the new patch. Game runs super smooth even in bigger parks (GTX 1070, Ryzen 2600x)

I have 300+ hours in the game and built some very big zoos, 7000+ guests, 40+ habitats, 300+ staff etc. Only ever played franchise. The game is incredibly good, one of the best builders / sims i have ever played BUT it does have its issues. As others have said, a large number of the bugs complaints you see are actually people not understanding the game mechanics, some though are 100% genuine. Performance wise, it really depends on your PC, I get to about 5000 guests before i need to tone back the graphics settings.

Dude, how do you micro 40 habitats? I have a dozend and start to struggle with all the breeding :D When several animals hit adult age at the same time it gets stressful...

@ Topic, ~90 h into the game: 3-4 crashes, some path finding issues, the keeper ai is sometimes a pain in the ass and the franchise animal trade is really on the low end performancewise.
They also have to streamline some menus regarding UI.

But it´s far away from "mess" state, it´s really easy to play and enjoy the game :)

I COMPLETELY take back my advice and STATEMENT. After I said what I said, I bought the upgrade for the Dragon, said what the Hell. NOW, and for 2 reinstalls, whenever I even look at the Dragon's on the marketplace my game goes to crap. If I manage to buy one, I CANNOT place it, because after hanging for a few minutes the game crashes.

My time with the game seems to have come to an end because I wanted to give Frontier more money for what I use to feel was one of the better management games. Screw you Frontier.

Because I dont breed all of my animals, all of the time and pretty good at setting up staff workzones. I do one of three things;

- breed large animals which are worth good cc's
- breed once, let them grow, keep best one, sell rest, store best one until need new breeding pair
- dont breed the animal at all and just have an pair for the guests

This is actually how most zoos run, breeding is selective, not mandatory.

My game has actually got gradually worse with every update. The first week or two the game was tolerable but now it's unplayable. I strongly recommend avoiding this game until they fix it.

This game is very playable and I am enjoying it a lot. I do think there are more complaints than needed due to people not knowing how to play properly.

Some things are slower in game like purchasing animals but it is better than it was. A few things i would like improved for conviencence but still like this game a lot.
