Noob Question : Habitats before I place an animal?
How do I know what a particular animal would want in a habitat. Such as how big it may need to be for 4 turtles or what kind of ground does an antelope like.

It seems you carve out an area, place some stuff in it, piss the animals off royally, pause and fix it all till it is what they want cause you can not view their stats.

Is there a better way?

Theres no way to REALLY know i think but check the zoopedia thing on the animal and itll give u some info about their environment and size, like it tells u the ardvarks like bigger environments where they dont have to deal with other ardvarks for example

You can get an idea of what they need by checking the zoopedia for geography, climate, space needed (per animal), etc. by checking all the tabs at the top. In the end though you can't get it all right until you have placed animals.

Build the habitat barrier and put the keeper gate in. This will allow you to then see the size of the habitat. Get that correct before you do anything else. Then put your animals in and pause the game while you click on them to assess what they need in the way of terrain types and toys etc.

Just remember that the size at the start has to be bigger than the minimum you need as the walkable space is taking away when items are placed in there that aren't classed as traversable.

The habitat builder on this page is a great help for planning your enclosure in advance:

A lot of it is also experience. Once you get a feel for what animals like, you can usually prebuild reliably, especially terrain
