Is inbred reproduction bad in this game?

Only if you want high quality animals. It's not a big deal if you just want to keep your pop at a level and do all the research.

If you want albino animals you have to inbreed
inbred is the way you domesticate animals
for example: fox and zebra

I've gotten a few albino animals without inbreeding.

That can happen if you bought a normal looking animal from the market that was already inbred and had a high potential for producing albino offspring

I thought albino animals happen totally at random. Does inbreeding helps getting albinos or not?

I doubt you have to inbreed to get albinos. The devs apparently care about the game's ethics and I really can't imagine them encouraging players to inbreed by rewarding inbreeding with special varieties. I don't know as I haven't seen it addressed officially, but I strongly suspect it's just random and very rare.

well, in the animal kingdom that "ethic" is perfectly normal, I doubt that any moral ethic is a reason.

It would be nice to get an answer from a dev directly.

As far as my experience, inbred animals tend to lose fertility and longevity stats. It's not a direct curve, it's just that each generation that's inbred produces animals with lower floors for those stats, making it far more likely the animals won't live long or be able to reproduce.

In other words, you can do it without many issues, but doing it too much could complicate things.

No, only the diversity genes fertility and immunity are affected by inbreeding.

Watch the video I linked - I got albino warthogs with 100% on all stats by selectively inbreeding

How do you keep up the stats generation to generation? * I have not watched the video yet.

I’ve been trying it with wild dogs and 3 pens. With their breeding rate and short lifespan I find it complicated.

You can always shortcut the chance to get good albinos by buying just one from the market and breeding that one to normal animals with good stats (that's how I finally got my 100% on all stats albino warthogs) - remember only the first 2 stats are important if you have the animals fully researched for the fertility buff. Any offspring will then have 50% albino genes and inbreeding from those should start throwing out more albinos with better stats. One thing I've noticed from breeding albino lions is that they usually have smaller litters, my albino lion pair only have a litter of one cub.
Also there should be a link in that video to his other one on how to breed animals for perfect 100% stats - also worth watching as it helps to understand the albino breeding requirements and how to set up breeding pens
