- Exhibits aren't huge money makers and sometimes guest don't use the nearest bin to donate but instead go to the next habitat, guess that's got something to do with the path they want to take, so don't forget to check the ones surrounding that exhibit too.
- Donations reset every year, so be sure to check at the end of the year, there might just not be anything in January yet.
And what MrHappy said about education
Research however, has never had an impact on no donations versus donations. Only in how much and how frequently people donate. I'm usually able to pull in enough money off a snake exhibit with a donation bin to keep my zoo running even while I plan out and build up my next habitats and exhibit centers.
I sped up time and passed by 2 years quickly, and all the donations I got were at the one habitat. I make sure that when I see $0.00 for donations that it isn't Jan or otherwise early in the year. However, $0.00 in donations from Jun through to Dec is unusual. Randomly placed donation bins also never seemed to catch the odd delayed donations, which I have noticed happen with exhibits (more so when there are several in a smallish area it is more frequent to happen).
But I've watched guests actually walk up to the exhibit window, move to the next window, and in the process they'd stop at the donation bin and then move on.
