Because that's how dominant social structures work? It's not the game's choice to put +1 male into a pen, and with males and females, you get fighting to impress mates...
You get the notice becuase it causes fighting. fighting means injuries, injuries lead to sad animals and sadder guests.
It's information? like.. What's the problem here? I don't understand why it's a complaint.. like.. It's a zoo. do you not want interaction with your zoo?
Completely missed the point!
It doesn't matter how many animals can be in a habitat. I'll put what the game says it needs. IF it says 1 male, up to 2 males, or up to 31 males...whatever! Fine. End.
My issue is with CONTRADICTORY messages. If there can be up to 31 males and 31 females in a habitat, why the message of incorrect sex ratio? Will this happen with 2 males and 1 female? 10 males and 9 females? 20 males and 18 females? These examples are all within the zoopedia guide. This same page says "Male Bachelor size 7-16"
So why the message of "Incorrect Sex Ratio" for this type of animal? If it wants just ONE alpha male, change the zoopedia to say ONE male and up to 31 females. Or even better, get rid of the sex ratio message for this species, and others like it.
Wildebeest, like other herd animals don't hold a 'head count' every morning and say, oops, too many males, "Bob....sorry, you gotta leave"
Bachelor size = all males in 1 pen
Bachelette size = all females in 1 pen.
Group size =/= Both numbers of males and females. It's min and max of total numbers, it's the sum of the lowest and sum of the highest.
it's '31' *TOTAL* animals possible. It has nothing to do with sex ratios
*TOTAL* animals do not count social issues, it's literally the smallest and biggest a herd will comfortably get.
If an animal has a social structure, Than most males *WILL* want to be alone with their females. They fight for power over sex otherwise.
It's all there, I think you're misreading what it's saying though.
So if its nothing to do with sex ratios, why do I have this advisory for incorrect sex ratio for a herd animal?

Fighting for alpha status is fine and happens in nature (and humans) all the time. Wish we had an option to turn this off.
If the game wants 1 alpha male + females, or all males, or all females in a herd animal enclosure, please update the zoopedia OR get rid of the sex ratio notices. Get too many notices as it is.
Solitary type animals, the sex ratio notice makes sense, but for herd animals?
"Dominance: Territory bulls". The Zoopedia has this info. The notification is there because those territorial fights may cause injuries. They're rare (while they'll happen a lot, even leading to death, if you are above the maximum amount), but they can happen and the notification is there to warn you.
1: fighting for alpha
2. fighting due to incorrect sex ratio
So if i get it right, the wish is to get the correct notification for this case. Fighting for alpha would be correct, fighting due to incorrect sex ratio false.
But if the notification is correct, then the zoopedia is wrong (bug) or the behavior (fighting) is wrong (bug)
I thought you were joking. I'm sorry. The button under Zoopedia on your UI. If you click it there's all the notices. There's a bell in the upper right corner of it to click on or off certain types of notices about your animals.
Thank You! Fighting for alpha is fine, but incorrect sex ratio for herd animals is silly! Of course there will be an alpha. Of course he will be territorial dominant (the meaning of "alpha") not want rivals around his females, but herd animals have another factor, safety in numbers....i.e. a HERD! Lesser males may have beta status but are not kicked out of the herd.
Either should change the zoopedia or (preferably) get rid of the sex ratio notifications for herd animals. After all, fighting for alpha status *IS* fighting for territory dominance and *IS* due too many males around (sex ratio).
Conversely, solitary species should get sex ratio advisories, but NOT fighting for alpha. If another male comes in his territory, they will fight, but how could a solo male fight for alpha when he is alone?
If it says that animals live in couple, that you can have until 30 males and 30 females, you can t have 10 males and 20 females without having a bad ratio males / females. It s not à bug, it s logical...
The notification should be accompanied by some Barry White music.
