Animals keep going in boxes?

Why do my animals keep being put in boxes? Like every couple of minutes or so when I'm playing on a high speed I get a little alert about how three pangolins have been in boxes too long orrrr tapirs or whatever. Multiple species. What am I missing?

Honestly I think it's just a bug. I've had this happen to me completely randomly ever since I got the game and think it's just something they need to fix. Among other issues. Don't think there's anything we can do to prevent it from happening currently.

I have the problems with my gorillas from time to time. But only one animal per time.

Boxing is how the game deals with pathing issues and animals getting stuck.
Try changing your habitat to make it easier to navigate. Watch and see where they are when they get boxed. Use the heat map tool on the habitat setting, click an animal and see where they think they can get to.

It happens when either:
1. An animal gets stuck/trapped etc and the game dont know what to do with them.
2. You changed something in the habitat that changes pathing (all animals get boxed up).
