It seems like all the work went in them. We will see if its worth it once the game releases or once we get a deep look at them.
So far though, they really do look amazing, so its possibly worth the cost. New animals doesn't just bring the animals but also the whole habitat with them.
The fact that Frontier gave people the option, and lowered the prices between 45 & 55 USD, people are whining.
Yes
No need to pre-order if you don't want to and it's not until recently I had the spare cash to be able to do so but am still very selective.
If you get the base game after launch I suspect you will still get the same enjoyment as those with the deluxe edition if it is your type of game.
Most standard games used to come with some of those things in the 80s/90s - I remember getting a massive manual with most games, and keyboard chart, and Frontier:Elite II came with a novel if I recall right. And they werent even Deluxe editions just standard ones.
You really do get practically nothing for your money these days.
That all said, I've bought the deluxe as I can see the quality involved and am all up for supporting good, British devs.
The animals are worth, what, a quid? It's a rip off. I dont see how you can say they are 'good British devs' when they are ripping their most interested loyal customers off?
I dont have a massive thing against David Braben, he did at least try to make a decent game out of E:D and he did make one of my old favourite games in the original Frontier, but something just grinds with Frontiers business methods - they seem so exploitative to their customers. They certainly arent any different to EA or Ubisoft or any other crappy gaming firms these days. Its just painful to see what a corrupt place the PC gaming market is turning into where people reply on buying reviews, cheap tacky preorders and pathetic Deluxe versions.
It just is difficult not to hate firms doing things like that.
Paradox Interactive have seen how that kind of business methodology comes around in their most recent game which has has scathing reviews even though its not a bad game.
These firms don't seem to realise that by doing these things they are just alienating their audience.
