Help Animals Starving
Hello!

So I don't know what exactly is happening, but all of my African Wild Dogs are starving to death.

I've sent keepers in to the habitat to feed them, but they just walk in, then walk out without filling the food tray. I've fired, hired, set work zones, and added food dishes.. nothing is working.

Is there anyway to fix this? Is it a bug? Am I doing something wrong?

Please help, I don't want my puppies to starve to death T-T

Show a screenshot - from above - of your enclosure, nearest staff room, keeper building and pathing.

Do you have any enrichment feeder items?

Keepers will not fill the regular bowls/trays if you have enrichment items as they take priority. So delete regular feeders once you have enrichment ones

Is the terrain around the feeder flat? If the terrain is raise/lowered without smooth edges animals many not be able to reach the feeder or keepers be able to re-fill them

Is their enough space around the feeder? If the feeder is too close to the shelter, rocks, trees, plants or other items there may not be enough space for the animal to stand next to the feeder and use the feeding animation

My wolf enclosure worked perfectly for about 15 game years and then suddenly this happened. The _only_ thing I could think of that I perhaps changed was the addition of the pinata enrichment toy. Aggravatingly, getting rid of it didn't correct the problem. Even when I got rid of the dog ball which had been fine for all that time.

Did you change a path, the entrance or anything? I've been caught on this when I've relocated the door and it dropped off the zone. Is there a keeper assigned?

Sorry for the late reply, I'm trying to figure out how to post a picture lol

I do have one enrichment feeder, but it's also empty.
The area around the food trays is flat. They've been feeding them this entire time, they just randomly stopped for some reason.
I have 1 unhappy worker, but he's working in another area.
The feeder is near the glass but not crazy close.
And I have a keepers hut right next to the habitat.. it has yet to be used actually.
And everything has power.

I did try to force one of the keepers to feed them by canceling the order then clicking the call keeper button right away and he kinda... flew away backwards.

What staff room does he use? This is a common issue where a staff room gets busy as you build up the zoo and your guy gets flogged because he has nowhere to rest.

I *always* add a small local staff room and workshop with the keeper and get no issues. Assign all 3 buildings to the enclosure with the zone.

ED: I'm guessing with what I read above you're not using zones. You should know what worker is doing the enclosure and you should know where he is.

I solved this issue by having each enclosure have its OWN (not shared with other enclosures) keeper hut, at least 2 keepers, and one 1 zoo keeper in the work zone. Hopefully this helps you.

Thank you for the help and advice, I ended up sending them all off to the wild.

I'll just try again tomorrow and switch things around. It's a learning curve lol

Thanks again all!

It's not a learning curve, it's bad game design.
Why would you need a staff hut and keeper's hut for EVERY enclosure?

It's economically viable and makes for high score zoos so why not? So it's that or... errrr.... call it a bug and hope it gets "fixed". :steamhappy:

Because they are tiny and creates confusion amongst the staff?
