Construction Grids
Is anyone having an issue with grid size changing while constructing a building? if I change the grid size to place a piece when I grab a new piece, the grid size changes to 0 or like not having a grid. Is there a setting I am missing to maintain what grid I set?

Yes, I am having that same problem! It is making it practically unfeasible to build anything.

There's a setting in the ESC menu called global vertical snapping. You could check to see if that is disabled. Other than that it might be a small bug because I usually leave mine on grid size 0 but it keeps returning to 4.

I run global snapping disabled so maybe that's why mine is reversed from yours.

Get that all the time. My construction skills in this game are already laughable without having to fight the game. I select one construction piece, select the grid size and place it. Then select the next piece and the grid size reverts back to zero.

I've checked the "global vertical snapping" option on and off and it does absolutely nothing

Global vertical snapping changes how you start the grid construction, I'm just not sure what else it could affect inside the grid builds.

Try to place a drink shop or wall (as a new group). Hold shift and move up/down with the mouse. If global snapping is on, the starter grid will move up/down in 1m increments. If global snapping is disabled it's free flowing. Kind of like turning on/off angle snap, but vertically.

It looks like this has been already posted to the issue tracker, so hopefully we get a fix for it sooner or later.

That's how it is supposed to work, but totally doesn't work... I've gotten so used to it not working that when it finally gets fixed will have to relearn how to build badly formed and crudely decorated buildings.

Dunno, works for me still.

Yes, this happens to me me often. I now try to make my general frame/layout of the building before changing any setting to the grid size to move a wall halfway or what not. Even without adjusting the grid size, roof pieces seem to be the worst about not snapping into place. Some will, but most will require me to hold Shift while lowering/raising the piece to the exact millimeter to get it flush with the adjacent piece(s).

Also, more often lately, while in build mode, I'll place a piece and then when I go to place my next piece, I'm stuck in a vertical raise/lower mode (as if I was holding Shift down) directly above/below the piece I had just placed. I can right click out of it and re-select the piece, but it's just another frustrating mechanic that takes up more time.

Looks like a bug that just popped up after the recent patch. Having issues myself with the slider flicking back to zero meters for grid height and grid-space size. After adjusting the slider, the grid also becomes slightly offset.

So stayed away for a while due to this bug with construction but just went back in tho bug seems better it's still very much there. Doesn't keeping jumping to zero anymore but once changed from 4 can't go back to 4 and going to 2 or 1 grid size miss aligns items - real shame - kills the whole building aspect which is so key in these games so really kills the xperience. I am really disappointed it has been so long and still persists as well - unless I am missing something somewhere but I don't see any fixes mentioned - am I missing anything?

I also have this issue from begin of the beta phase on. When I start building on a existing grid, I usually first set both grid sliders from right from right to left and back again. Than it works - for a while. Sometimes, during building on a certain grid, it changes automatically and you'll recognize it when the building parts don't match anymore. Than I have to close the building menu, close building group and start again in that building group. This works for a while until I have to repeat these steps endless..

It's a shame for a building game like PZ that even the building system is bugged. Which is the same system they use in PC - where it works. So, 10 months after release they haven't fixed it yet. Although people mentioned it already in december on their site. Take a look how lazy they're working on those bugs. I doubt that they'll fix it as long as the most PZ gamers don't care about bugs because they're so overwhelmed from those "unique and individual looking and behaving" animals.

Try turning on terrain collision if you have it off, it was an immediate fix for my grid.
