Hemorrhaging money
I have been playing the same zoo since launch. I had over $300,000 saved up with a stable income, but all of a sudden I am losing money at an alarming rate. No matter what I've tried, I just keep losing more and more money. I don't know what to do anymore.

Too many animals? Food cost can explode like that... sell a lot of them.

No that's not it. I have cut my expenses to a minimum. The problem seems to be more along the lines that my incomes are falling dramatically for no apparent reason.

go to the financial sheet and look where the negatives are.

Check your finance page and see where your money is going.

I have. The thing is it's not the negatives that are killing me, it's the lack of positives.

screencap it and post it here. lets see

Yup, I went from a positive balance 5 star zoo to loosing 150,000 after adding 2 orangutans to my zoo in a matter of minutes.
There is a few topics with people having the same problem, I think it must be a bug/patch because the problem for me seems to be caused my my lion pride, the food prices have almost tripped for absolutely no reason. I have no new lions either BTW.

Lack of positives make the negatives kill you, if you are not bringing in more than you are spending that is the problem.

Make sure you have donation cans by every exhibit, this is your main source of income. Cut back on employees if possible, turn of marketing campaigns. Turn of education devices to save on energy. Replace transformers with solar and wind. Lot of ways to cut back on expenses until you get a positve cash flow then build another exihibit to bring in more people and more donations.

Yep. This is exactly what has happened to me. Except it was the addition of a bear exhibit that did me in. People just stopped buying things for no reason. One year I was at 300,000 and growing and by the time I noticed, I was at 130,000 and dwindling.

You haven't been doing something I was doing.... trading tiger parents out soon after offspring and waiting for the little ones to grow up while moving females into another habitat to mature at the same time with their new male/future mate (mutli tiger habitats)?

I found out without the adults in there.. income from guests drop to ZIP. It was amazing how fast my 200k started to disappear.

Had to leave the adults in until the kids are starting to mature and then can trade no worries. Kinda a bummer that, I'd rather trade out a near 5 year old to someone else than a closer to 7 - 8ish one.

No I have not been doing anything like that but thank you for your input. I'll keep that in mind.

I think it might be a bug. My food costs suddenly tripled for no reason. I set everything to the lowest tier, sold animals but it still kept going up...

Food $200
Staff $1050
Taxes $100
Candles $3,600
Admission $900
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my zoo is dying

All jokes aside...I haven't encountered the issue but it sounds like a bug. What do you have your admission price set at?

my refunds are through the roof, was making good money now i'm selling spiders trying to survive. my guests thoughts are mostly green but yet they show up red on my guest needs scan. I'm guessing all those red buggers get their money back.

i ran into a similar situation. happened on every zoo i had on the beta too.
my staff salary was high so i fired everyone i felt i could manage without and got it down to around 10k then within a few minutes it shoots up to 64k.
it's unclear as to whether any of it is a bug or not. a lot of people have reported losing thousands or millions all of a sudden. if it's not a bug, i think a big part of the issue is the speed that you lose the money. once you start losing it's difficult to figure out what the issue is and fix it before you're in debt, even with the loans which you don't really want to use.
