There is a few topics with people having the same problem, I think it must be a bug/patch because the problem for me seems to be caused my my lion pride, the food prices have almost tripped for absolutely no reason. I have no new lions either BTW.
Lack of positives make the negatives kill you, if you are not bringing in more than you are spending that is the problem.
Make sure you have donation cans by every exhibit, this is your main source of income. Cut back on employees if possible, turn of marketing campaigns. Turn of education devices to save on energy. Replace transformers with solar and wind. Lot of ways to cut back on expenses until you get a positve cash flow then build another exihibit to bring in more people and more donations.
I found out without the adults in there.. income from guests drop to ZIP. It was amazing how fast my 200k started to disappear.
Had to leave the adults in until the kids are starting to mature and then can trade no worries. Kinda a bummer that, I'd rather trade out a near 5 year old to someone else than a closer to 7 - 8ish one.
Staff $1050

someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my zoo is dying
All jokes aside...I haven't encountered the issue but it sounds like a bug. What do you have your admission price set at?
my staff salary was high so i fired everyone i felt i could manage without and got it down to around 10k then within a few minutes it shoots up to 64k.
it's unclear as to whether any of it is a bug or not. a lot of people have reported losing thousands or millions all of a sudden. if it's not a bug, i think a big part of the issue is the speed that you lose the money. once you start losing it's difficult to figure out what the issue is and fix it before you're in debt, even with the loans which you don't really want to use.
