Planet Zoo
Getting the Visitors to move into the Zoo
So my Zoo is taking up a fair bit of space, but the guests all seem to crowd around near the entry area of the Zoo, and only a handful will actually explore down the paths. Anyone know why this is/how to encourage the masses to get a move on? A lot of my big/cooler species are in these areas further afield. I tried setting up a monorail, but that wasn't used either. Should I be putting multiple entrances in?

This is an overview of the whole place more or less. Furthest most people go is the shopping zone, before the path goes red.

I'm seeing a decent gap there between the first set of enclosures and the second. See how right near your entrance, everything's tightly bunched together, and then you suddenly get really spaced out? I feel like you need to put something in that space. It looks empty.

It looks to me like you have used staff paths down the centre of the habitats? If so, that is why the guests won't walk there. Hope that sorts it for you!

Good call! I think you might have spotted the problem

Ooh, good point! I didn't notice that. Nice spotting.

No it's all regular down the big walkway. There's a few staff paths leading to the exhibit doors as I didn't want the crowds getting in the way of the keepers in this new segment. Or does the fact the exhibit isn't hooked up to a regular path an issue, even if there's plenty of regular path around the exhibit to view points?
Maybe try pushing the habtiats a big closer North? I've found that guests don't like to walk too far if they don't have to. The closer your habitat are to each other the better. Try and get them to walk round in a circle and put down shops every so often. Maybe the habitats to the south are just too far away and need to be crunched up a little more? I'll post a picture of my zoo later so you can see how I've set it out so you can see guests moving around the zoo.
My zoo is not nearly as spreadout as your but I too have noticed fewer jpeople will go to the far away exhibits.....maybe you need to add transportation to take them there.
I mean it could just be that they are lazy? Maybe get a travel rail system from one end to the other?

Also click on the people that get the furthest, maybe the customer thought may help (ie. If they get hungry at that point, they mite turn back for food)

Here is my layout. I'm currently building an asian area on the opposite side to my entrance but all my habitats in the centre circle are filled with desirable animals to draw people around. I started my asian area with tigers as they seem to be a big hit with the guests (only using 2 habitats of tigers due to the community goal). I also noticed putting shops and a toilet helped attract people around the other side. I put the transport in after my centre circle was full of habitats more of a safari experience and to help releive some foot traffic on the centre circle. Hope this helps you out.

You know I'd prefer if it was as simple as putting signs down, like tigers this a way XD
It would be nice to direct guest with signs, I agree. We could put a deep hole with crocs in the bottom directing the protesters and inspectors!
So, I've started trying to plug the gaps. Put another shopping area in to the East and it's drawn a few people too it but the crowds are still by far sticking to one spot but this has helped at least a bit, so will continue to plug the gaps with some retail therapy.

Thanks for the tips all, and Jackal, I had the same thoughts with the species, I've got a lot of what you'd call the big draws down these ignored paths. Reckon it's time I give transport rides another go. First one wasn't really used, but if I put this one where the Snow Leopards used to be, right in the middle of the crowded zone, might be it'll have some more use.

Check your guests individually once they get to that "end" point where they stop going further. They may me tired or thirsty. Could try some benches and a water seller a little beyond that point to tempt them over.
