Is this game single or multi player?

I seriously don't get it? xD From the videos I saw on YT I couldn't quite figure out whether it was one or the other. I am not interested in a multiplayer zoo experience (the animal market really puts me off), so I want to know if there is a normal single player experience available? Like in JWE or Zoo Tycoon 2?
Also, is it necessary to have internet to play the game? All of it or partially?

There is sandbox mode. Im unsure if it uses the online version or offline version of the market tho.

Ive never had issues finding the animalsi want in sandbox tho

Sandbox mode has no management its just build stuff, no money at all....

Challenge mode has money and management, you can go broke etc (but its offline)

Franchise mode is the same as Challenge mode except its online and you trade and sell animals with other players.

and The Campaign is Missions you do with tasks layed out to be accomplished, typically with an already created zoo....

I cannot say for sure but i would assume both Sandbox and Challenge would work offline especially since Challenge was originally designed as Offline Mode.... But again i haven't verified that at all its just a guess
