Dublin zoo (my local)
- Meerkat Restaurant. Its just a canteen but there is a big window into the meerkat enclosure do you can watch them.
- Great elephant area. Recently they totally redid their elephant area and it.looks fantastic. It is a self contained area with a nature trail that has educational boards snd playgrounds. They also have a talk with zookeepers while they feed the elephant will a cool hanging feeder.
- Sea lion seating area with food nearby.
Right in the middle almost perfectly placed is a place to sit and watch. It also is next to the cafe so you can choose to have a small picnic or Sit in for food.
- Big reptile and fossil education house. Nice big reptile house with good selection of fossils and talks to keep interest.
- Farm education area. A section that is farm and critter animals, pigs, cows, rabbits Guinea pigs etc. Just a nice chill area.
Fota wildlife park
- cheetah feeding. They have hanging food on a huge rope that runs the length of the habitat. The cat chases it up and down.
- free roam llamas. There were 3 llamas that figured out how to open gates. So they just let them roam. I loved seeing them pop up around the park
Might not be crazy interesting but i still love them. I left out animals as j feel most zoos share animals
They also have Koalas and Pandas now as well, we were there a few months ago.
Chester Zoo is great for walking through the bat enclosure and having them fly right past you, and their orangutans have a nice rainforest enclosure.
The former because of animal variety, and the latter because it is built into the side of a mountain. Although I've looked up the layout of the SD Zoo while considering making a reproduction, I wouldn't even begin to dream about the work involved in the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
"You dead yet???" "No..." "How bout now?" "No." "Sure you didn't choke?" "No!"
Edinburgh Zoo is lovely! I've been a few times for leisure and work. For work, I had to take observation notes on the Capuchin monkeys for some psych research. Loved it!
Captive breeding is considered by some conservation scientists to be a diversion from the reasons for a species’ decline, giving “a false impression that a species is safe so that destruction of habitat and wild populations can proceed.
Zoos spend millions on keeping animals confined, while natural habitats are destroyed and animals killed as there is insufficient funding for protection.
