Why am I unable to place water?
I placed an indent in the land, but the damn thing shows up red, not allowing me to place the water. There's nothing obstructing it.

Are you trying to place the water line too high?

You have to smooth around the edges, I believe. Maybe your indent is just too deep and/or small.

You don't need to smooth the edges. Try digging too deep to try it out for starters.

Well, let's see. The water line being too high couldn't be the issue because I've made smaller, shallower ponds for other exhibits (I'm making a bigger, deeper pond for Nile Monitors), and yet the water isn't too deep (I've made deeper in an earlier park that got corrupted). I did smooth the edges, but that didn't help.

I did finally manage to get the lake in after a LOT of fiddling and fussing, but it would be useful to know what's stopping a lake from being made for future reference. The game doesn't notify you what the issue is.

I had the same problem in the tutorial map with the lake for the tigers. I just wouldn't fill it until I clicked a spot that it accepted no idea what that spot worked and the other didnt.

If you have animals in the area that are wandering in to the water area they will block you from adding water.

The indent may cause the water to touch a road... level is off so this does not happen.
