Not enough animals in the game?
"Planet Zoo contains over 50 different species of animals that can be adopted and cared for by players"

So far i am loving the game but im very underwhelmed by the lack of animals confirmed for the full release, considering games like zoo tycoon ultimate edition has near 200 its a no brainer that more animals are always good.

Now i know there will be dlc's with more animals but when you pay 30-40 pounds+ for a game is that something that should excite us? when i pay that much money im expecting the full release to contain a lot more then just 50 considering all the options out there they could use.

I havent really saw anyone else "complain" about this so im very curious to see what other think?

Do you feel there is a lack of animals? should we be excited to pay MORE money on dlc's to get more animals?

I'm personally feeling like its a missed opportunity, more animals for a zoo game is always better, period.

They said there's over 50 animals in the game so it could very well be 80 or more total, and you have to keep in mind that zoo tycoon didn't have that many animals at release. So far planet zoo actually has the most animals at release than any zoo game that came before, so I don't think we have to be concerned.

For that amount of money I expect a great zoo game, with many features and content. We aren't paying 1€ per animal, we pay for the game that has all these features (4 modes one of them with animal sharing, the best building system yet for a zoo game, really deep simulation of animal behaviour and needs, full voice acting and a big campaign, ... etc.).

Finally, people have already been datamining this game and there's many animals left that they haven't announced yet, I don't want to spoil them all but you'll get a lot for your money :)

Doesn't seem too bad to me. Zoo Tycoon 2 came out with 30 animals

Hmm, it will likely be an issue later, the game is still fresh and exciting. With the main game mode right now being Franchise, it's more difficult to see all of the content. It makes me appreciate each animal more. So I personally feel like 50 is plenty for right now, especially since the UI for finding animal filters is already a chore. Once the interface is streamlined so you can find the animal you want much quicker, then yeah, load 'em on up!!

Maybe yes but if planet zoo add more animals its 90% chance we have to pay for them in a dlc.

Probably. And for Zoo Tycoon it was the same as the rest came in expansions.

I'm honestly fine with that. If I don't like the price I can always wait till it's at a pricepoint I think it's worth it. It would be amazing if this game got close to 200 animals at some point as well.

look at the dlc in planco, no worry to the no. of animals, worry about your wallet

You can bet we'll get new animals via updates and DLC. I'm hoping it's new and interesting things like aquatic animals and aquariums and exotic animals, and nothing silly like dinosaurs or fantasy creatures.

the game takes more like a realistic approach so i think dinosaur, unicorn something like that are not going to happen

Once the game is polished, released, and bug free to play, I honestly wouldn't mind buying dlc for more animals! (I will probably buy them all haha) I think they will do a good job on this game and I want to encourage them to create more content.

No, I don't mind that much. In a perfect world, a game can ALWAYS have more content, but we live in a world with limited resources so you have to stop somewhere. Looking at the animals in this game, you can tell a lot of effort went into making each one as good as possible. The models, animations, and behavior are all much more complex than they were in the original, so obviously more resources will need to be spent on each one. I guess it's a quality vs quantity thing. We can either have less animals that are better, or a lot of animals that aren't very good.

For aqua live, i would rather there is "planet aquarium", as if its a dlc, probably you can make a large scale indoor aquarium. So individual game is better

I don't think the beta features all animals. I know that I saw chimpanzees in video footage and e.g. those aren't in. The deluxe animals and the additional ones at release are okay for a start. The catalogue will certainly grow with DLCs.

New animals are certain, but what I want to know is, if they are planning to do something about Aquariums, Petting Zoos, Restaurants, Hotels, Feeding Shows (dolphins, seals) and Birdhouses you can walk through. In short: Will they keep pushing features, or just release new animals that look different, but do the same old?

I don't worry IF we will have lots of species, I am worried if we have lots of variety from lots of species, WHEN they arrive.

I totally forgot to mention the exhibit animals like spiders and snakes! the fact they count towards the "50+ animals" makes me laugh as we just throw them in a box and thats it, cant customise it at all really and there is 10+ animals like this.
