Can't Make Hippos Happy
I finally managed to get some hippos and no matter how big I make their habitat, they WILL NOT be happy with the space. I've added space at least 5 times so they now have a HUGE area JUST for them. I got it up to 70%, but no matter how much more space I add the percentage never goes up.

Are you adding space in pause mode? If so it wont update until you hit play.

Got the same problems with the hippos and the warans.
It seems that all animals need unrealistic much space for a zoo to be happy.
And after you have given them the space of a football stadium you just can put in three plants until they are unhappy angain. Very unpleasant for the creativity.
I really hope that you can turn off the animals needs in the sandbox mode or that they fix the importance of this needs

As said, the game does need to be unpaused for the space to update.

You can see *exactly* how much space they need and how much space you've given in one of the tabs on the animal. Unfortunately, as far as I've noticed, there's no way to see how much space is in an exhibit when I'm making it. Maybe calculate it with a grid or something.

My two hippos are happy with 4500 square metres of space, 1900 square metres of which is water. Plus 3 shelters and 3 trees :P

So three trees on a 4500 squate meter enclosure 😅must look awesome 😋
And Ive never seen 3 shelters for two animals in a zoo.
So dont get me wrong but i would love to build a realistic zoo and not a animal wildlife resort.
Just my opinion.

Ps. I have never seen hippos in wildlife with needs for a rooftop 😅

I had to make a hecking gigantic area for them, which is annoying, because I dont think they like hanging out with anyone else??

I would unpause and wait for it to update. I barely got them up to 80% happy with the space. I just feel like the space need for them is REALLY high currently. It took quite a few attempts to get a shelter big enough for them as well (even though I could tell that three of them would fit under the ones I had placed).

I really do love the game at the moment, but I do not like how extremely picky the animals are with their habitat. The developers have been encouraging us to build the zoo of our dreams and go wild with the animals habitat. But it's hard when the animals want huge enclosures that doesn't look good and filled to the brim with shelters even though the current one SHOULD be enough for the current animals. And that you can't add whatever I want to the habitat.

I had the same problem with my hippos as well. I had two at first. They lived i a pretty big enclosure. But they demanded more space and even more shelters. I built a huge habitat that I wasn't happy with only to get those pesky activists leave and make the hippos happy. Now they're fairly happy with their home. Then the female gave birth to one baby and they were suddenly all anxious about the space again, ugh.

I'm sure the developers will adjust their needs and all in the future. At least I hope so.

I'm now the proud owner of a bouncing hippo baby :) We'll see if they need another acre and another shelter when she grows up :P

Here's my hippo enclosure. I'm on year 26 and I think my 4th or 5th gen of hippos at this point
