Galapagos Tortoises Wont Eat
I have an exhibit with several tortoises and the keepers are actually filling the feeders but every once and awhile i have a tortoise almost die because it will not eat or drink. Most of the time i can move it near the feeder and it will finally eat but i just had my first one die due to this. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this happen.

I am having the same the problem. Sometimes moving it next to the feeder helps but not always. I filed a bug report, you can +1 it if you want. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/5661

Yup, those buggers are annoying. Next time I have patience to deal with them I am going to try to make the smallest enclosure for one possible and keep it happy. This way it will always be near the food and water.

It doesn't seem to help. I've tried reducing the size of the enclosure, and placing feeders everywhere, and they still won't eat. I've had them die of starvation literally right next to a full feeder.

Are you using the right feeder? It seems the animals are rather picky about which feeder they will use according to another thread. Also from what I have seen in Youtube videos there is a building that makes the food.

Are they getting stressed and running for cover? If they're not confident around humans they might need one-way glass to be able to get to the feeder - I had this problem with Adalbras and it might be the same.

Yes - They have the right feeder, and the feeder is filled with food and No - they're not stressed. They have perfect welfare apart from being starved/dehydrated, and I've put feeders inside their shelter even. It's definitely a bug, I've moved them literally right next to the feeders and they still won't eat.

Something is wrong with the tortoises. They’re so slow and by the time they reach the feeders its already too late and will die of dehydration/starvation.

did you try taking the food enrichment out?
maelie Oct 8, 2019 @ 8:08pm
Yes, I did, I've eliminated all possible habitat problems. The food enrichment is a separate bug, where the keepers won't fill the regular feeders if the enrichment items are there. In this case the feeders are FULL but the tortoises sometimes just won't eat from them. It's nothing I'm doing wrong, it's a bug. I have a screenshot of them literally right next to a full feeder, dead of starvation. Sometimes the tortoises DO eat, but it's fairly frequent that they don't and die. I agree with Hashimoto I think it's because they're so slow that sometimes by the time they get to the feeder it's already too late.

Linking this again, so people who are also having this problem can +1 it, which helps the devs know it's not just a one-off issue: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/5661

idk when that happened to mine I kept moving him by the feeder till he ate it, or moved the feeder somewhere else then move him by it and it worked

Time is simply paced too fast in the beta, 1-2 seconds pretty much equals 1 in game day.
Also it seems like other than idling bug and random feeding spot sometimes, a keeper could only bring a certain amount of food at once, hence not every bowls would be filled.
I moved them right next to the food when they were hungry.

Very true! In my wish list I asked for the time to be slowed down, possibly 1 day = 1 hour? And it could also be a terrain issue, I know on my last day I had issues with paths and such because the terrain was "uneven" when it was perfectly flat. I also thought they intentionally didn't fill a second feeder because they thought there wasn't enough animals
