Oh, you may have lost me at "protestors"
I've been hoping that someone would take Zoo Tycoon to the next level. That was a great game and because this one is made by the folks who developed Planet Coaster, I was pretty excited. I didn't want to jump into anything so I decided to check out the forums and the first thing I see is a thread about protesters showing up in the zoos, umm, no. Not sure why that puts me off but hopefully in the released version in November they could put toggles in to switch off stuff like that. If you knew me, you'd be surprised I'm not helping the protesters paint signs but ingame, it just sounds irritating. Shouldn't there just be an inspector to fine you or threaten to shut you down if you're not taking care of the animals?
All I can say is that stopped me from purchasing the beta release. Protesters? Really?

THe inspector shows up and fines you if he sees the protestors. The protestors are basically the games warning system of: hey, youre about to get a big fine if you dont fix this by the time the inspector shows up

OMG TOO MUCH SIMULATION!

The protesters also decrease happiness for other zoo visitors. It's an entertaining feedback incentive not to keep your animals in squalor. Fun addition to pickpockets and dropped litter.

Protesters. Really.

they can get annoying but only if you go broke and can't afford to look after your animals correctly. if your animals are happy i don't think they protest because, for me, they only protested animals that had low welfare etc.

You won't get them if your animals are happy. So, keep your animals happy and in healthy condition and you won't see any protesters.

They can get annoying when animals are unhappy for reasons beyond our control =(

my keepers decided to stop feeding my tortoises that they had been caring for just fine up until then. I added two new keepers to the work zone, i built new keeper buildings, i called for keepers to come to the pen...nothing. The tortoises were starving and i eventually had to sell them just to get rid of the notifications and protesters

now granted in the live game i think that kind of bug won't be present

"They can get annoying when animals are unhappy for reasons beyond our control =("

The whole point of this stage is to find bugs and report them. Just because protesters are showing up now due to reasons beyond our control, doesn't mean it will be that big of a deal in the future.

Add to that, as stated above, keep the animals happy.

This might not even be an issue either in sandbox depending on how that will work.

The only time I saw protesters was in the tutorial. There were a few outside the Giant Tortoises because one of the game bugs was the Tortoises having the wrong style food dish so they were all starving to death. It's extremely easy to to make your animals happy and healthy. Everything is in the menus. The only thing you might need is a Vet to do a bit of research so you can get the Enrichment toys. But lack of enrichment isn't going to draw protesters. You'd have to seriously screw up to get protesters.

I appreciate everyone's response, thank you. I finally remembered the reason I was instantly less than thrilled about protesters. It stems from my experience in Sims 3 in which University introduced protesters who were a giant pita. I just hope they put in a toggle to switch this off in Planet Zoo but it did put me off buying the early version. I'll wait until the release and yes, it did bug me that much. There are much better ways like fines and that sort of thing, I don't want a bunch of angry people shouting in my zoo goshdarnit!. It just doesn't sound like fun but that's okay, it's just my opinion.

I quite like it myself, especially when your zoo gets quite big it can become hard to micro manage all your enclosures, they basically give you a heads up that something is going wrong and you need to pay attention to X animal.

If you don't want them in your zoo, take better care of your animals..

I can see why you would get protesters if you animals are unhappy or unclean etc. Nothing wrong with that IMO. Used to happen in Sim City and Civilization as well - its a better indication that something is wrong than just getting a boring popup telling you.

If the protestors show up can you release the lions on them?
Chrmdfreak Sep 30, 2019 @ 1:56am
My only real issue with the protesters is that they appear way too quick and are a pain to get rid of, even moving an animal out of an exhibit (because you realize youre simply missing things you gotta research still) will not make em leave.

Protesters only show up if you treat your animals like ♥♥♥♥. Dont treat them likd ♥♥♥♥ and win

I created a reptile house and made it overcrowded. Protesters show up amd i then cut the road and captured them in an encloser. Now they are an exhibit...
