Oh, you know what? I think (20,9) is where the Super Gravitron is in the main game, and perhaps that particular room is hard-coded to always wraparound in all directions. And unfortunately, that hard-coding persists into player levels, making room (20,9) always wrap in all directions on you. So, I think your best workaround for now is to have the player teleport into that room, and then teleport out on the other side.
