All three Knights jumped out of the boat... and the replacements didn't jump back in
I've had one knight jump out lots of times, and found if I wait a new one jumps in the boat usually... this time the boat is going the same direction as the replacement knights, and they aren't jumping back in.

With over two thousand hours on clock, I've had that happen once after the newest patch. I executed them as deserters. :) A bug of some kind, quite rare.

I've had it happen four times now in my two half-runs since the update, which is... maybe 6-8 hours?

The code controlling who gets on or off the boat is a hot mess right now since the latest patch. No-one should ever leave the boat under any circumstance except possibly getting eaten by flyers. Ringing the bell or paying the 10 coins to set sail can cause your existing squad leaders, their archer escorts, and even the 4 archers manning the ship to jump off the boat and abandon you. Good luck on isle 5, I consider the game unplayable until this is fixed.

They really aren't inspiring a great interest in buying this DLC for me... I really hope they keep patching it up.

I believe I found a workaround for the issue until they fix it. The hermits getting on board the boat trigger its departure so manually moving them further away from the boat via your mount and then going back to ring the bell should allow enough time for the samurai and soldiers to enter the boat, jump out, and have a new batch jump in before the hermits arrive and force the boat to set sail. It worked for me, anyway.

That makes sense why I only had one and two the first times it happened.
I'm really surprised it's not fixed yet 'cause it kind of makes the game unplayable... or just way harder than it was.

One time, ringing the bell a second time the next day (a few seconds later, so it may not depend on day/night) had one of the knights jump out and a different one jump in that didn't jump back out, so that's a possible temporary workaround as well

I just got an e-mail from their tech support saying they've got this bug fixed for the next patch. Here's hoping that comes soon.

Happening to me on my cursed difficulty run. Not sure I wanna keep going with barely anything as late into it as I am. I need my bois to survive lol

Ya, I gave up on playing it for now, leaving game breaking bugs like this in their game for over a month doesn't inspire interest in buying their new DLC... It's like they didn't even play though the normal campaigns before releasing this update.

I haven't had any issues with this. I ring the bell once and wait until all of my people are on board before boarding the boat myself.
I've had this issue a few times on the base game & various DLC's. Sometimes the knights just switch with others, but if they leave I have to go to a previous island and to collect new knights there, otherwise I'll totally die on the new island. It's a terrible bug.
