The most difficult mount is the golden boar of course as it has to graze to refill stamina, it's the only mount that needs your help as it doesn't do it on it's own like most mounts even if you dismount it, it still will be out of stamina when you use it again. The first few islands is easiest to escape of course, the fifth and sixth island is the most difficult. The water horse is a top choice for escaping portals, though it's stamina isn't the best if can run quite a distance before needing to eat and you're right it does eat anywhere. The cat chariot is okayish in that it also can eat anywhere but when those cats are pushed hard to run without eating they will dead stop. Sleipnir is a great horse to get out with, in fact funny story, I went into the cave on island 6 with Sleipnir and figured I was going to blow up in the cave, I didn't. The key with that horse and most other mounts outside the boar, you don't want to completely run it out of stamina. Once it's breathing just a little heavy slow down. For island 6 I would slow down after every two of those things your archers destroy, I managed to get out just before the cave exploded. If you run an animal out of stamina you won't make it out. Slow down when horse or whatever animal catches it's breath run slowing down again if you have to, the lightning horse does have a fast speed but quick to run, quick to slow down and even stop. It's still a heavy horse and it's A.I. represents that, much luck Monarch :greedyHeart:

From what I've heard, any mount can escape the cave as long as you don't stop on the way out, just slow to a walk when the mount starts running out of stamina. I've only used the stag, unicorn, lizard, and griffon from normal mode and the water and lightning horse from Norselands so I've not tested it thoroughly, but I've also always escaped from every cave in my dozen or so times playing through the campaign.

hold on, are we SURE gullinbursti can escape the 6th cave?
(sleipnir, nokk, the starting hose, and the cat chariot can)

Hmm, seems I have a reason to try to boar next time I'm playing this game in co-op.

I'm sure it can be done but I wouldn't risk it. I've heard people manage it. Although because op is playing co-op one of them can stay at the entrance/exit of the cave while the other sets off the bomb lol! Technically that's the only plausible way I see the golden boar getting out in time. :greedyHeart:

That's why I'd wait for co-op, if I die on the way out it's only a few coins to get my crown back.
