The biggest one is that of user safety, if something like GTA Online was to be followed, user's IPs not being secured is a real security risk. There is a reason that after the mid to late 2000s P2P has been mostly phased out for a Dedicated Server which can securely protect user's IPs, allows for better rule and VSR enforcement, and most importantly, fun server mods.
If you want to host a session of SL on your computer, download the SCP SL Dedicated Server, port forward that port to allow the server to see players, and you're off to go (although it wont appear on the server list)
I'm having the issue of not being able to port forward due to my isp provided router being somewhat limited when it comes to configuration (there is no port forward option for some reason). So is there really no foreseeable easier way to just invite friends through Steam and play?
Well that's a bummer, we used to play a lot but since I am the only one willing to set up a dedicated server this game went off the list of our party games. Thankfully Lethal Company got our back right now as a replacement (for now). Thanks for the info.
Peer-to-peer would be nice, and to remove the aforementioned risks of IP grabbers and all that, it could be locked to friends only/invite only
And my friend just hated how long it took to just get it working for a small session together
As is just 2 of us
While 5k isn't great so far (especially when is not clear how there multiplayer exactly works) but least they give you peer to peer and server
