SCP SL passed its prime since the Parabellum update?
Lowkey deadass think the Parabellum update was the beginning of the downfall. They removed and changed so many things that actually made the game either fun or balanced.

Thoughts?

I think that the beginning of the downfall was marked by the release of Scopophobia. However, it was when Parabellum was released that it really started to show.

idk how they made it so scps are simulataneously BS and also underpowered at the same time

honestly i feel like the way they have been balancing scps just isnt the play.
It sucks to be alone because then theres no hope, but then the group comes in and just wipes them out. and this has kind of been the thing for a while now and honestly i dont like it that much. It makes those last stand moments not happen anymore because you die instantly once your the last guy, or everything gets shredded if mtf is smart and stays as a group.

Not Parabellum, Megapatch 1 was the update that marked the downfall.

I came to accept that this game always has been, and is, kind of garbage. Still like it, though.

Yeah I second this. Although I see the game as way past its prime, I still would like to make some fun with this game and enjoy the last bits I can.

honestly ive played a few community hosted events with older versions, stuff like pre megapatch 1 around the 2018 era. I swear everyone here has incredibly rose tinted glasses for the old versions, they are absolute ass. Yes some decisions by northwood have been bad, such as 939's lunge being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible (legit just a camping ability, what were they thinking when designing the 939 rework???) and gun accuracy being ass but overall imo the game has massively improved since 2018, especially in looks.

Im willing to bet most of you just miss the community from that time period, despite the game somewhat improving over the years the community is just downright terrible these days, sweats, wankers and people that have a full time job in hating whatever northwood puts out, even if its good. The only thing improved community wise are the artists like the guys that make 3d animations and whatever, everything else is just slop.

049 used to 1 tap, 106 used to 1 tap and was also very easy to camp as without the breathing that was added, 096 used to 1 tap, 173 used to be able to do that tantrum thing to kill people incredibly easily, 939 used to have a way faster TTK and was also faster in general. 079 used to thrive in heavy but now is much easier to counter without any special/rare items atleast in heavy. Yeah seems balanced to me pal

Let’s put it this way.

Objectively speaking, there are certain scenarios and circumstances in this game where you will die and there’s not much you can do. As it turns out, there’s a lot of scenarios like these. Alternatively, scenarios where it’s just “oh, but if you had this one item to use, you could’ve maybe possibly survived, perhaps.”

Subjectively speaking, verbally announcing “hm, we could be ambushed here” to your CI buddies as the elevator opens to a 939, a 106 and somehow an already enraged 096 (one of the aforementioned certain death scenarios)? That’s pretty funny, that’s a fun way to go!

Objectively, zombies are very poor in design. Turning one of the people that could’ve respawned into a 400-600 HP ally is massive, to the point where “zombie army” rounds are damm near impossible to win, hugely due to there not being enough people to fight back. Individually though, zombies are pretty weak, so being in a round with not that many zombie amigos can be a pain.

Subjectively, zombie army rounds can be fun as hell. Just seeing the massive horde tumbling towards you is hilarious. And I’m overjoyed every time I manage to kill someone as a solo zombie, it never gets old. Genuinely the most satisfying thing to do in this game to me.

I could go on and on.

049 was one tap at the cost of having lower movement speed and taking longer to make zombies

106 was one tap but had an attack cooldown even after missing clicks. Plus he couldn’t stall a game by repeatedly teleporting away from confrontations because of the femur breaker.

173 did not have tantrum before Megapatch 1.

939 used to be slower.
The game was actually more forgiving allowing everyone to had almost an equal chance to win. Now its either SCPs or MTFs getting the wins, Dclass and Scientists barely escape anymore making everyone rely on the MTF/CI spawn timer. Chaos kinda have no purpose if D-class don't get a chance to escape. The whole stretch for realistic outcomes if SCPs were real is a stretch cuz it ruins to the flow of the game.

It’s always SCPs getting the wins.

They really just need to rework how scps work in general
