How to close doors behind you reliably?

I see people do it all the time, either in spectator chat or when I'm chasing someone. They seem to get real close to the door button, hit and go through the door while its closing, wasting the pursuer's time and making distance away. I for the love of me cannot do this. I just seem to slam the door in my own face and have to awkwardly talk to the SCP like nothing happened as they rip my guts out.

Can someone give me a step-by-step guide on closing doors behind without giving myself a humiliating death. I could not find a guide online.

Walk forward and run at the same time, then at the right time (usually when you're fairly close to the button), click the button

Meh practice is all I can say, defo don't do it from the furthest away, you can do it right next to the door, I find aiming at the button more reliable than at the door model always.

If you wanna practice without threat of death btw:

In the main menu, press ~ and type 'startserver'
Click 'start anyway' and wait for it to load
Force the round to start and ta-da, you're all alone in Light, ready to slam the door on your face 50 times
(You can also press ~ and type 'override' to give yourself admin)

Also note that even players who close doors behind them consistently eventually mess up. It's not a very hard trick, but mistakes happen, with some more fatal than others.

you also don't have to press the door button, pressing interact on the door itself also opens/closes it, which is much easier

Meh I find it less reliable, at least for me whos played with 100 ping on NA servers for over 2 years.

you need to lower your ping. the slower your connection to the server, the longer it'll take for the door to close.
