Mecha's seminar on Humes, Kant counters and the Such...
"Good evening, yes please take a seat everyone. Of course, as Agent ████ has already pointed out, there are refreshments at the back. And I would advise you all to have at least one of them, just to maintain your focus. This seminar is a little more complicated than anything the buffoon Clef has done so far. So please take a seat and relax before I give you all a ‘information dump’ on reality itself.

Are we all sat down comfortably now? Yes? No, Researcher Bobby you can't shoot me right now.

Let's begin then...”

*Dr Mecha is seen producing and pouring out a large tray of raw beans on a table next to him*

“I assume you all know how to count beans, don't you? Because if not I will more than happily copy Black Adder for you to get it through your head.

Regardless, there are roughly 50 beans on this table. We shall use these as a scale for reality, or normality. For example, this room has the same nature and reality as a normal park somewhere else in the world, and so we can use these beans to simulate the reality of this room.

Now, you may be pondering on what exactly I mean by 'Reality'. To that I have a simple answer, at least for me that is.

Reality is how much someone or something can interact with the environment. Seen as though as though this room has a fairly low reality, thanks to our SRAs, things act the way they act. The molecules that make us up remain as they do under this low reality.

Confused? Good, please have another drink then…

Now imagine we add more reality into the mix, more beans. Now, things get a bit more weirder. Now, those molecules that make us up. Are now more ‘warped’ in a sense. Maybe they are more mutated than last time. Things can be changed more, perhaps on a molecular level or just entire buildings with just a little bit of more reality.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, however, let’s remove some beans. Now, there is less reality. What does that mean for us? Well, the atoms that make up this room might be ‘squished’ or compressed. Not exactly like space or some form of nuclear fission, more of just… enough pressure to make titanium implode upon itself. In short, if you ever get yourself into an area with low reality. Well, tell God that I said hi for me will you.

This goes right into my second point, Kant counters. Likely named after the philosopher of the same name, don’t worry the Foundation does that all the time. The way that Kant counters work, is unimportant. And even then, to actually know the ins and outs of Kant counters would require a degree like mine in engineering.

Regardless, Kant counters simply analyse a certain area around itself and responds with the measure of reality there, this is generally measured in humes. The number of humes on Kant counters can generally range from 1 to 250. Basically, how many beans there are. And in case you’re wondering there have been times were there are less than one hume[www.scp-wiki.net] in a certain area, but you all don’t have the clearance for that however.

And that almost concludes my seminar, I hope you all have had some form of enlightenment and maybe a minor case of severe headaches. And in case you are wondering, no I will not be talking about reality benders. Because, like the Foundation says to many of you.

‘That’s not in your clearance’.”
