You will also get experience if you close/open a door nearby when a human kills another human.
Personally I don't camp Tesla gates unless I'm close to tier 3 and above or if heavy is a straight line. The reason for this is because it costs a lot of ap making it worthless if you miss.
The best SCP's to stay with, in my opinion, is 173 to slow people down and 939 so you can tell them where people are.
096 isn't a great choice to stick with (unless they're the only other SCP) because they break doors. 106 is even worse because he can walk through doors meaning you don't need to open a door to get xp, and you also get half the xp for when 106 catches someone.
Basically just stick with someone at all times. The only time I find you can go against this is when there is less then 5 targets without any SCP's knowing where they are, you are fast making it effective to find the last people.
By sticking with another SCP I usually get to tier 3, possibly 4. That's my biggest advise just stick with people.
If you're close to getting the next tier, spam a door or a tesla until you get it.
