Worst Written SCP Article you've read?
Alright, we've all seen well written SCP articles

Now which ones do you think are awful, but have made it as an actual article on the site? Not counting Joke SCPs.

Really? I actually really love 055, I find it a really fun idea actually, and I enjoy seeing how the foundation starts figuring out little bits about how to describe it.

682 and 999 i can agree with...

But 055 and 048 there really creative SCPs and sometimes i can see 048 being boring but 055 is just a great SCP

i don't think most people realise how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 079's article is. ofc 079 isn't as infamous as 999 for being a rubbish concept, but it's a real stinker of a page when you break it down. Much worse than most other gen 1 scps.

I feel as if it’s more of a basic article at most. But i prefer not to comment on whether an article is badly written articles only if the SCP is bad i’ll comment

Also 035 is pretty bad. It feels like as the article goes more and more unnecessary abilities are added. Oh, it’s super manipulative and needs a host, that’s neat. Okay now it can posses non-living things and brakes through its containment with its tears. Umm okay, now it’s tears break everything faster and it can effect power. Now it controls minds and convinces people to kill themselves just by being around it, then what’s the point of the host or manipulation thing?? Okay now it completely controls the room and can summon tentacles to attack people, but why??? That’s not interesting, that’s just so OP that it’s boring. The abilities don’t stop coming long after they aren’t needed.
A super persuasive mask that is desperate for a host but destroys their body in the process is a great concept, but it gets lost because I guess it isn’t deadly enough and needs 13 more ways to murder people.

i mean i can compile some reasons why it sucks really quickly. I even found some more while I was looking. Assume a CinemaSins voice.
  • the author has no idea what the turing test is
  • it's probably not even a euclid scp due to how easy it is to contain. Apparently it was once keter. What a joke.
  • absolutely none of the sentences in the third paragraph of the description fit together, and the first one should just be in the containment procedures
  • the phrase "even in the realm of fantasy" should never be used in any article ever for so many reasons
  • "He left SCP-079 in his cluttered garage, still plugged in, and forgot about it for the next five years" also makes no sense in a formatted report
  • the way the article is structured just does not make sense. the addendums and the description almost blend together, and its the same with the containment procedures.
  • clearly, the only method of communication with 079 is a keyboard. this makes the document logs a bit odd due to the fact that the researcher somehow gets their dialogue CUT OFF. in a TEXT CHAT. and they PAUSE. WHAT.
  • the ending note should be in the description
  • how does 682 type? why is 682 even there?
  • thats not what [sic] is used for
  • "No peripherals or media will be connected or inserted into SCP-079" The Exidy Sorcerer does not have a built in monitor, so they would've already broken this procedure.
  • 079's creator forgot about the AI "for the next 5 years" even though there is a 7 year gap between the date of creation and the date of the foundation acquiring 079, give or take a few months. also, i doubt that he ever remembered it so this doesn't even make sense to begin with.
  • why is it hooked up to solar panels? is it really secured in a place where it's getting sunlight? yeah they could be outside the facility, but why isn't that specified?
  • this article is way easier to make fun of than i remember. I don't think that's actually something I take issue with.
  • back to the whole keyboard thing, "(Dr. ██████ notes his opinion on [DATA EXPUNGED])" also makes no sense at all lmao
  • "researchers are advised to wait twenty-four hours when this occurs before resuming conversation." despite 079's memory retention improving from 24 to 35 hours
  • The article never legitimately says that 079 is sentient, it just says "It is not known when SCP-079 gained sentience"
  • The location of the Cray supercomputer is censored, as if it wasn't something that existed in the real world and can be found with a google search. (Chippewa Falls, by the way)
  • There is barely a single straight sentence in the article that describes what SCP-079 is actually allocated as. I'm not a computer engineer (and the original writer wasn't as well, likely) but according to the article, it is an "Exidy Sorcerer microcomputer". This doesn't exist. The microcomputer used in the Exidy Sorcerer was the Zilog Z80. Also the AI is on a cassette tape, which is not connected to the computer at all. Therefore, SCP-079 isn't anomalous at all. That's like ten sins for the price of five lines.
  • "SCP-079's capabilities must be monitored closely to ensure that containment can be maintained." as if its going to grow legs and walk off. It's a computer, its not getting anywhere you dont want it to.
  • The document logs have no given date, unlike the addendums.
  • What personal stories does 079 have if it cant even remember talking to the big lizard boy?
  • the article has the weirdest priorities in clarifying things. it has to say that there were specifically 43 minutes where it interacted with 682, but it cant give a finer value than hours for its memory retention. it has to say that its owner was a deceased college sophomore, but cant bother listing any of the personal stories 079 recounted.
  • "It was also decided by General ██████" General who? Since when did SCP have generals at all?
  • random crabby black boxes everywhere. Why are there funky redactions before the O5's? Did this random document once list their names? Do they even have names?

wow that was fun. i might try to find a few more later. hah.

I only disagree with the one complaining about it being euclid, if it was keter i would agree but euclid means that if something goes wrong it could easily escape(Example containment breach and how he was plugged into the main system and easily escaped his confinement)
Other then that, yes your points are good. I didn’t even notice most of them

The definition of safe on the official wiki includes "containment does not require significant resources or that the anomalies require a specific and conscious activation or trigger". 079 would fall under both, as I dont doubt that hooking him up to the main system counts as a conscious activation or trigger.

Great idea... Make it

Well, in fairness, the old Safe Euclid Keter system is far inferior to what we have now. I'd call it a Ekhi disruption class, notice risk class and then add contaniment class safe.

Hes really not hard to contain, but if he does break out then its a major concern.

999 not creative? Since today most of people(seems like you too) are used to negativity something positive and I mean ultra positive like 999 is extremely creative. Everything else just uses negative emotions.

thats cause negativity is more interesting then happiness since this is a horror inspired project
and 999 is dispaised by pretty much everyone except its only poplar thanks to those who wanna see cute stuff, plus 999 isnt that creativ since a bean bag that brings joy is as lame as a immortal lizard, like scp 093 is creativ and definitly a good read then that thing
Absolutely not true. Negativity is more interesting to you since you are probably negative. For me positivity is more interesting.
