Is light above or below heavy?
I hear so many people say light is above heavy. They're wrong, right?

This is generally how most people think it works:

Surface (highest)
Warhead silo
Entrance zone/ Heavy containment zone
049 Chamber
Light containment (lowest)

Light Containment is underneath Heavy Containment.

It makes no sense logistically, which is why people get confused. It makes sense gameplay wise because you want the escapists to meet difficulty. SCPs are not escapists, so Heavy contaiment being literally next to the entrance is not an issue.

Based on elevator buttons, you can tell that Light is above Heavy Containment & Entrance Zone.

The elevator buttons shows you what floor you're on. When looking at them you can see that light is above heavy.

Wait, so we have to go down to HCZ just to go to EZ to go up to SZ?
Rushi Jan 15, 2020 @ 8:44am
No matter what way you spin it, HCZ is right outside the exit and LCZ is the most heavily contained being at the furthest point from the exit, all of those things making no sense. I'm not trying to insult the game when I say this, but if they really want to make the game stand out from CB then they should consider changing the map layout that CB set as the regular to make more sense.

grug this makes no sense its light heavy entrance zone and surface thats the order and heavy is above light
I always assumed that HCZ was situated closer to the entrance to facilitate quicker response from a Mobile Task Force unit to the larger threats. The HCZ, being the more difficult to navigate than LCZ seems to exist as a temporary containment-of-last-resort. It will hopefully contain keter-class SCP subjects for a sufficient time to allow for the aforementioned MTF response.

In the game, based on the y coordonate of the map and the elevator signs, light containment is above heavy containment, not below. The y (height) coordonate in light is 1,34 (being a float value) while the y coordonate in heavy, respectively entrance zone is -998,67. These were found by me on a private server using servermod with the admintoolbox plugin and cheat engine on version 8.0.1

My understanding for a long time is this:

LCZ -> HCZ -> EZ -> SZ

It's just that LCZ and HCZ are named counter intuitively.

Also, if LCZ is above HCZ, why does HCZ link to EZ instead of LCZ linking to it? Why is the most secure part of the facility closer to the surface?

IIRC in very old versions of SL there was a direct stair case between EZ and LCZ so maybe this is where the confusion is coming from.
