Text chat?
It would help a lot to not have completly mute players since they lack a mic

Maybe it can also help scp-939s who dont have a mic by tricking them via text chat

It would work like VC, the chat has a range and only those arround it can read it,

The normal conditions would also apply, only SCP-939 and 079 (in radius of the speaker) be readeable to humans, but SCPs in range can read humans chat

Having an intercom active would display a server wide msg (using text chat when next to thr intercom)

It would also be useful to add a icon on top of players who are.compatible and are.typing

And other details in general, im not a game dev so idk if its possble but still

Huh? Was this feature already promised by the devs?

They've talked about it, but want to focus on other features more than that.

Oh..im no dev but it feels rather..high priority to have a text chat...especially in a teamwork based game..but ok

People ainly want bug fixes which they don't deliver on anyway and more SCPs that cause even more bugs resulting in even worse gameplay half the time. They go through a lot, like most devs.

Text Chat will slow down the game. We already implemented a broadcast command that should help Server Staff without a microphone.

You can afford a PC, yet not a 10$ headset?

Also, why would you rather use text chat? In most situations, you'll die in the time that it takes to finish typing. Even if you're in 914 with the rest of the orange tide, nobody would rather wait for you to type out every message. Just get a mic.

Mics go for a lot more than 10$ for me

Depending of the quality it can go for 1000$ for one very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mic that doesnt even work properly and 2000 for better quality

Not sure i agree, with the first statement about text chat slowing the game

first of all, adding a text chat will only affect those who dont have a mic, having a mic will remain as the best way of communication,

But rather, it will only cause anything "different" to the MuteBois, the people who dont have a mic and commonly are just lacking any form of communication,

it may slow down the game for those people, But honestly, as long as we make text chat not a significant advantage, like with scp 939, it should be only used by those micless, like its intended, You would only have to have people who send text chat messages be highlighted to 939 and thats it

but its your game i guess..

to be honest, i do not understand why, only people who dont have access to any form of communication would be "slowed down" by this

and even then, it really takes only a few brain cells to say hey, i shouldnt stop to type as im about to be murdered by a SCP

(except its 173, because he is sooo slow that you can watch him and type as you back away)

but i think that beeing slightly "slowed down" is preferable to no form of communication

You assume that the average human being has a few brain cells.

My mic's only twenty dollars, and it works fine in every aspect. Where the hell are you going for thousand dollar mics?
