I started playing MMO from January after a long break on YO where I played from the beta.
Some problems have always existed since then and I imagine that they are not easily solved.
The only thing I can recommend to the staff if they want to bring this game back to life is to "lighten" it because compared to other competing games it is heavy in terms of playability or too many resources are required to build buildings and structures.
Even if it is a FREE TO PLAY, the players end up getting tired and abandoning the game!
ADVICE:
- As one other player stated before, lighten your game up a LOT. If you just lightened the terraforming alone, you would have yourself a much higher player base. We ALL love to build massive castles, and fight, but it is a RARITY to find players with the tenacity to level the land out for an entire castle city for an entire month (in some cases). If you re-worked the terraforming time alone, I dare say you would have a MUCH higher player base.
- Server stability and issues between server jumps has always been an issue, and needs to be addressed, so players don't feel the loss!
- This next one was my straw that stopped me from playing: Re-work your teleport and /stuck so it doesn't allow for enemies to teleport INTO YOUR BUILDINGS OR ONTO YOUR WALLS. There's been MANY MANY reports of this, and unfortunately, you have not only NOT addressed this problem, you've flat-out denied it as a problem at all! That is outrageous.
- Lastly, if you want even MORE player base - stop focusing on the spiritual dark side of things, and start focusing on content like:
1) Various Keep 'components' (or sections) that snap together to allow for players to design their own style of keep (from small to ginormous), with various styles based on in-game factions/races.
2) Various building styles (also based on the various factions/races).
3) Horse carts that aren't stiff when pulled by a horse, and turn AFTER the horse turns, not WHEN the horse turns when being pulled.
4) A sense of gravity!!!! No more stacking round objects to the sky. No more using floating objects to jump walls!!!
5) Instead of wood left outside, how about making a wood shed building that displays more wood as logs are added? Any wood left outside a woodshed would be simply deleted from the server after a given time, just like stumps should be! (they would rot). This would save on SO MUCH SERVER RESOURCES!!! No more projecting millions of objects stacked and floating, with stumps everywhere as far as the eye can see.
6) Siege equipment would be nice - a ladder that can be knocked over and broken, a battering ram that busts the door open, but doesn't ruin the ENTIRE GATEHOUSE (causing rage quits).
7) Wall defences would be nice - burning oil, wooden logs strapped to the walls, buckets of big rocks (players could fill then use to throw down onto enemies), ballista towers to fire at distant trebuchets would be nice.
If you did MOST of these changes, your game would be VERY populated right now.. but I've suggested them before, and you've not done any of them.
I leave the game. Bye.
If the wipe is needed to improve the game, do it. The game is in beta and every player is aware that he can lose everything.
Many of the older mmo have disappeared and there have been no substitutes. Many existing ones sometimes move to new servers with the need for manual character transfer by the player. Again complete loss if you miss that.
With this wipe, the characters and their abilities will be preserved, which is the most time consuming and thanks for that.
