It's an incredibly grindy game. And it should be. Because if everything was easy you'd grow bored and stop playing. Crafting silly things feels rewarding because it takes work and time.
If you buy the game, I highly recommend you join a noob friendly guild with Discord. This game is impossible to play alone, as a stat cap will prevent you from mastering every job, and if you try and make it alone, you will be subject to attacks sometimes. It's like having one person run a town. It won't happen.
Skills progress slowly. There's inworld laws with consequences for murder or tresspass. There's many jobs. The PvP is interesting. Updates are very frequent. Sometimes every 2 or 3 days.
For an early access game, I'm happy I bought it. Don't believe all the bad reviews.
I'd say in the first few hours, if you really know what you're doing and you stay out of trouble, you can have your own claim and house. Faster than that if you're with a small group of like-minded people cooperating.
On the other hand, it can take days if you get into trouble and/or don't know what you're doing and/or aren't very efficient about it.
I'd add that's a big reason why I love this game: player "skill" makes a tremendous difference, although there's a limited chance component as well. And by "skill" here, I mean anything that the player brings, be it knowledge, dexterity, leadership, social, etc.
My gripes with the game in just 2hours. Glitchy, many bugs, clunky mechanics.
I don't mind it being grindy i have played grindy games before and like them, but it depends on how it is grindy. I don't like waiting on loading bars, i prefer more interaction. Pick a axe, hit the tree yourself, etc. After bar is full you pick up 60 rocks, when all i wanted was maybe 20, and now i have to drop 40 cuz am overcumbered and wait another loading bar, etc.
Basicly i just don't like how the system works.
I have plaed many grinding games with a more active building/gathering system, being more engaged makes the grind fun and not rly a dull chore wich this seemed to be to me.
All in all even if i disliked that i could overlook it.
My 2nd and biggest problem was that in 2 hours of playing, despite castles and whatnot villages near me, i had found no players. This game relies heavy on player interaction considering there isnt much else to do.
SO me not running into anyone on a medium populated server, was a turnoff and got me worried.
At some point i was hearing what sounded like horse hoofs and thought it would be a player, but it was just some animal, my one and only living thing i met.
Perhaps i rushed it, but those 2 hours convinced me to refund it for now.
I love the ideea of the game, just not how it is implemented.
I understand that you dont like loading bars. But trust me when you have done it 1k times you dont see them anymore. When you mentioned them, i had to really think hard what you were talking about, since i forgot all about them.
And the thing about not seeing people. When you open the map, you can see where there is claims. People are around those areas. But ofc some parts of the map very few people live, like up north in the snowy area. And if you joined the PvP server, you should most likely get happy you did not run in to people :-)
But it is a team game. You will not get long playing solo. If you give it another chance, then find a guild to play with. The game will be MUCH more easy that way
So no you didn't rush it. Its a terrible design for an mmo. And the production of it has been just brutal. After waiting 2 years, I have 33mins logged.
Decided to buy this and keep it wether i will like it or not.
So i will be trying again to see how it's like. *shrugs*
Idk why, despite not being impressed by it i had it in the back of my brain, mostly because of the creativity that can be done, despite it being super grindy.
Guess am giving it a 2nd chance.
I cant build where i want? I need permission or something?XD
