Worth it?
Always wanted a game like this, was so excited when i saw it.
Just not 100% convinced if i should get it xD.
Reviews kinda put me off for now, just looking for some more personal opinions.

What am curious about, how grindy is it? Give me examples like how much it takes to make a tool a house or anything within the world.

Depends on what kind of server you want to play on. RP servers are half the XP, also less PVP going on. A small hut could be done in less than 20 minutes on both RP and non-RP.

Mount and Blade combat. Runescape grind. Pretty fun.

Simple tools and a hut are easy and quick to make anything more advanced though requires a group of players to make. Your importance to the group has less to do with your skills (although those are still important) and more to do with how often you are on. It's easy to get major things done with a large group on a peaceful tile, it's much harder with a mid size group on a war torn tile. Walling off a guild claim is a lot of work, major buildings require regional resources which must be gathered at different locations.

Unlock the tier three skills you want to use on newbie island or else you'll end up digging ditches and cutting trees forever.

Very grindy. But offset massively by team work. It's like real life but in medieval times. We all love it and if you want to join the skujtland server come join us. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/402533600022757390/414572184439095296/2018-02-17_16.png

I'm new to the game. I never owned LIF:YO... so LIF:MMO was a bit of a shock as it's different than any other game I've tried.

It's an incredibly grindy game. And it should be. Because if everything was easy you'd grow bored and stop playing. Crafting silly things feels rewarding because it takes work and time.

If you buy the game, I highly recommend you join a noob friendly guild with Discord. This game is impossible to play alone, as a stat cap will prevent you from mastering every job, and if you try and make it alone, you will be subject to attacks sometimes. It's like having one person run a town. It won't happen.

Skills progress slowly. There's inworld laws with consequences for murder or tresspass. There's many jobs. The PvP is interesting. Updates are very frequent. Sometimes every 2 or 3 days.

For an early access game, I'm happy I bought it. Don't believe all the bad reviews.

k, guess i'll buy it and test it out D:. if it's nice i got a group i could convince to join.

It is very grindy, and however much time it takes to make something is a function strongly depending on how you go about doing things.

I'd say in the first few hours, if you really know what you're doing and you stay out of trouble, you can have your own claim and house. Faster than that if you're with a small group of like-minded people cooperating.

On the other hand, it can take days if you get into trouble and/or don't know what you're doing and/or aren't very efficient about it.

I'd add that's a big reason why I love this game: player "skill" makes a tremendous difference, although there's a limited chance component as well. And by "skill" here, I mean anything that the player brings, be it knowledge, dexterity, leadership, social, etc.

Sorry, i had to refund it after 2h. I didn't want to risk playing more and not being able to refund as i was totally not sold on it.

My gripes with the game in just 2hours. Glitchy, many bugs, clunky mechanics.
I don't mind it being grindy i have played grindy games before and like them, but it depends on how it is grindy. I don't like waiting on loading bars, i prefer more interaction. Pick a axe, hit the tree yourself, etc. After bar is full you pick up 60 rocks, when all i wanted was maybe 20, and now i have to drop 40 cuz am overcumbered and wait another loading bar, etc.
Basicly i just don't like how the system works.

I have plaed many grinding games with a more active building/gathering system, being more engaged makes the grind fun and not rly a dull chore wich this seemed to be to me.
All in all even if i disliked that i could overlook it.

My 2nd and biggest problem was that in 2 hours of playing, despite castles and whatnot villages near me, i had found no players. This game relies heavy on player interaction considering there isnt much else to do.
SO me not running into anyone on a medium populated server, was a turnoff and got me worried.
At some point i was hearing what sounded like horse hoofs and thought it would be a player, but it was just some animal, my one and only living thing i met.

Perhaps i rushed it, but those 2 hours convinced me to refund it for now.
I love the ideea of the game, just not how it is implemented.

Yeah i think you did rush it. This is a longterm game, and 2 hours gives you no impression what the game is about.
I understand that you dont like loading bars. But trust me when you have done it 1k times you dont see them anymore. When you mentioned them, i had to really think hard what you were talking about, since i forgot all about them.
And the thing about not seeing people. When you open the map, you can see where there is claims. People are around those areas. But ofc some parts of the map very few people live, like up north in the snowy area. And if you joined the PvP server, you should most likely get happy you did not run in to people :-)
But it is a team game. You will not get long playing solo. If you give it another chance, then find a guild to play with. The game will be MUCH more easy that way

I bought LiF:YO over what 2 years ago, for the purpose of playing the mmo. I had to wait and wait because i didn't pay enough or get lucky enough to get early access to the mmo.SO wwen it was finally released on steam I came to the same conclusions.

So no you didn't rush it. Its a terrible design for an mmo. And the production of it has been just brutal. After waiting 2 years, I have 33mins logged.

Well after trying other similar games there past few days and refunding them as well, wich were more boring than this.
Decided to buy this and keep it wether i will like it or not.
So i will be trying again to see how it's like. *shrugs*
Idk why, despite not being impressed by it i had it in the back of my brain, mostly because of the creativity that can be done, despite it being super grindy.

Guess am giving it a 2nd chance.

I've 112 hrs on this....I'm on a beach by myself....a friendly guild helps with claim as I make iron ingots and they sell to the crown for me....I've never had and glitches or real problems but as had already been said.....the grind is real. 😁
