Map location and options issue

Hello,

I just started the game this afternoon on Epleland.
As I watched YT videos before purchasing the game I saw that there was a pin on the map showing the player location and different options on the right.

As I press the map key in game it only show me the continent without any option or player location making it kinda hard to locate myself...

Is it intended? Has things changed since the YT videos I watched?

Same happened to me on first startup. Restarted and map works as it should ever since. Just give it time to load when you first log in. Lots of details on it so it takes a bit

I started on Skjultland with a new character today but there is nothing on the map! Its just the whole map and I dunno where I am or which island Skjultland is? Please help

Skjultland is a server and not an island.
With the number in the upper left corner of your screen, you can get an idea where you are (see http://i.imgur.com/TAva98Z.jpg)
