Save Location change with v1.2.0
I launched the game after updating and wondered why I didn't have any saves to load or continue. Upon further review, there is a saves folder in the main Steam location that is currently being used instead of the original:

D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fell Seal\Fell Seal\saves

Now the original save location is:

C:\Users\*USERACCOUNT*\Documents\Fell Seal\saves

I copied the saves from the user account location to the main Steam location and I could once again load/continue my saved games.

I don't know if this was by design or an oversight by the devs. Either way, there is a workaround until it's fixed.

Just copy your saves from the user account save location into the main Steam saves location.

:)

Ok... I found the issue.... what you just said reminded me that I just recently turned on Ransomeware Protection in Windows 10. (I don't use any 3rd party anti-virus since Windows Defender works fine) This locks out most of the system files/folders unless you "allow" and app access. I checked the latest blocked apps and there was Fell Seal.exe. Once I added that exe to the exclusion list and deleted the save files I copied into the Steam location, the game started looking in the correct location in My Docs.

So, if anyone else has this "issue" (not really an issue) just have them check Windows 10 Ransomeware Protection in Settings.

I should have known cause I have other games that I had to exclude as well cause they were acting funny.

I want to thank you for the assistance and quick responses. BTW, I am a HUGE FFT fan and have been waiting for something...anything like it to come out.. 6 Eyes has out done themselves. I have been playing Fell Seal since Early Access and love it. It's in my top 10 games I love along side FFT.

Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to the turn based tactics genre. I applaud you all and hope you all stay safe and healthy!!

Jaguar-

I actually had this same thing reported by another user -- quite odd. Thanks for the note.

I checked the config files for a save location I could "maybe" edit but I didn't find anything. I will gladly send you files you need to look at from my install if you wish.
Let me know if I could help in that regard.

EDIT: Maybe having my Steam games installed on my D drive has something to do with it?
My C drive only houses Windows OS and User Profiles. D drive is for Data. Both are SSDs (C-M.2 drive, D-SSD)

Save files are handled by Steam cloud. I don't know why it would put the saves in the game folders like that.

My best guess is that it's a fallback location if "putting them in the correct spot fails". I'm not sure why it would fail placing the saves in "My Documents\Fell Seal\saves" in the first place. Probably an anti-virus feature again, since those have been messing with our save folder since day 1 :-T
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks a lot for the kind words!
It's always great to hear a tactical RPG fan is liking our work :)

Thanks for the added notes about this issue, it could certainly help other users as well.

Stay safe too friend.
