Cinematics / video problems
Hi, i'm experiencing some troubles when i tried this game. It's probable that the two are related but i'm not sure. The opening vidéo is twinlking (hopefully i'm not an epileptic person ^^), probably related with a v-sync problem.

The more problematic is the 2nd issue, because during ingame cutscenes, the background disappear when the camera move and come back after. I've seen the faq with the issue with the nvidia series 9XXN with background turning black, but i've a 980 Ti and it's quite different. The background came back each time a dialog text open. Here are a few screenshots :

I've tested :
-> Update drivers
-> Turning off the pixel perfect option
-> Checking v-sync on nvidia panel (it was already on application controlled, i tried to force v-sync)
-> Switching display mode
-> Changing monitor frequence between 60hz and 75hz.

None of those tricks changed anything.

OS : Windows 10
CPU : Intel core i7 6700K (skylake)
GC : Asus STRIX 980 Ti (nvidia)

I hope it help and thanks :)
(i apologize for my bad english ^^)

fps=true fixflicker=true

Just keep the previous entries under the [graphics] tab and add those 2. Let me know if it helps at all! Also, what's the yellow number in the bottom-left the screen for anyone getting the issue?

Thanks!

Hmm, you've tried most of the things that could have helped I think.

The pixel perfect option won't help, but the 2 main things to check is making sure Vsync is on and also testing Fullscreen with Borderless and with Exclusive.

Have you tried the both the Exclusive and Borderless fullscreen modes?

Other than that, a few extra things to try would be:
In Gameconfig.txt
under the [graphics] section, try these options:
vsynccount=2 refreshrate=75 targetframerate=75 VSync=true

Maybe check with 60 rather than 75 for the above values.

If none of these things are doing it, I admit I'm not sure. We've seen the vanishing textures like you're getting for a small amount of users, but most were resolved with the vSync option so far.

If none of the above works, I would recommend getting a refund and maybe running some more tests on the Free Demo (just to be safe) or get the Ps4/Xbox One versions, since those will always work correctly since their hardware is consistent.

Let us know how it goes!

Bug with screen flickering and screen turning white.
Hello,

I have a problem where for the opening cut scene it horribly flickers, and when playing the game the texture and background turn either white or grey. Furthermore on the world map it occasionally turns pink or white when trying to move through it, I would very much like to play with game so please help me.

In addition I have made sure V-sync is on, made sure its on in the config, i have tried it on exclusive full screen and also on windowed, i have tried to lower the resolution also and it did not work.

Please help me!

Also i know you guys are busy, so if you can just give me as many possible solutions as you can so i can try many at once!

Thank You!
Lumpy Squid-

I'm not necessarily saying that the answer is here, but, for your info, you can check out another bug report of (perhaps?) similar nature.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/699170/discussions/1/1648791520839665445/

As always, thanks for letting 6 Eyes know, and they'll look into things when available.

I shall try it out, also I didn't know it was out for PS4, I might just get it there if it doesn't work out
Nuances May 3, 2019 @ 3:25pm
Thanks for your response.

Yes, i tried to switch the borderless and Exclusive mode.

I tried the modification of the file, and it solved the problem on the opening cinematic. Unfortunetely, it didn't solved the problem during the game... :/

I've an other information, when I hit start button, it show the dialog box asking if i want to skip the cutscene, and the background shows up perfectly. Perhaps the problem is from my old monitor that strucks my resolution on 1440x900.
Nuances May 3, 2019 @ 3:29pm
Yes it seems to be the same problem. And it seems we have the same CPU.
6 Eyes Studio  [developer] May 4, 2019 @ 9:32am
The i7 6700k is also my CPU, so I actually doubt it's tied to that to be honest. This is most likely tied to the video card settings/drivers one way or another. If none of the tips in the thread Conan linked works, I admit it might be hard to diagnose >.<

The biggest thing to double check is to make sure that you're not disabling VSync for the game via your nvidia settings. Our game can run at an insane fps on a good system such as yours (like 1200 fps), which could absolutely result in "very weird results".

One thing I can recommend is to refund the game and then run some tests with the "free demo" of the game (which can be found on Gamejolt and Itch.io), just to make sure you don't get "stuck" with the game if we can't find a way to make it work on your system. Better safe than sorry :)

The other thing of note is that you could look into the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game, as those can't have weird hardware/configurations that would mess with them and will always behave just as they should.

Let us know how it goes please :)
6 Eyes Studio  [developer] May 4, 2019 @ 9:37am
It's unlikely it's a resolution issue tbh. We've tested most resolutions, including 1440x900 and it should work fine. And if a resolution was acting weird, it wouldn't be by having whole textures disappear from the screen.

That being said, I don't have an idea right now. We don't control the rendering process ourselves. It's likely the issue is tied to the video drivers, the video hardware or Unity (our engine) and unless we manage to find a workaround, none of the above are things we can "fix" ourselves.

From what you're saying, I think you tried that, but to double check: have you tried to run the game in a window btw? Like 720 window (not fullscreen). Now, that's not the best way to play the game, of course, but if it's acting "funky" even in that window, that's an interesting piece of information that could help identify where the issue lies.
kmpapples May 6, 2019 @ 11:09pm
I'm having the exact same problems (starting my first game), both the flashing intro and the backgrounds disappearing in between conversation bubbles (and flashing in and out in a clearly predictable sequence during opening cut scene).

I've tried all of the advised solutions (including all windowed resolution settings) to solve the cut scenes, but have had no luck so far. I really hope that we all find a solution soon.

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060
6 Eyes Studio  [developer] May 7, 2019 @ 6:38am
Hmm, seems like there's still a few people with this issue and we're not finding a solution.
As a final test while we research this some more, something that would be worth testing would be to have these in "My Documents\Fell Seal\GameConfig.txt"

Under the [graphics] tab, make sure those values are there (you should probably just replace the current value of the [graphics] tab with those).
fullscreen=true exclusivefullscreen=true vsync=true resolutionx=1920 resolutiony=1080 refreshrate=60 cagecursor=true vsynccount=1
You could change the resolution x,y values to match your monitor's values as well (or leave them to 0 to use the same value as your desktop).

And you could try wth "vsynccount=2" or even "vsynccount=3" as well to see if it improves (there's a fair chance it will).

This setup would force exclusive fullscreen with a refresh rate that should work well for certain.
It's possible it won't fix the issue, but I can't think of a "more likely to work" setup. If the above doesn't work, then it probably won't be fixed with just tuning the config file and we'll need to explore some other avenue.

Thanks for your patience!

I'll try these out in a bit. And to counter your thanks, thank you for your response and support! We really do appreciate you.

Huh, I may be going crazy here, but my version of the file specified (i.e. GameConfig.txt) only has the follow (copy-pasted):

#version 5
[sound]
mastervolume=80
musicvolume=80
ambientvolume=80
uivolume=80
effectsvolume=80

[graphics]
vsync=True
resolutionx=1920
resolutiony=1080
fullscreen=True
exclusivefullscreen=True
pixelperfectbattle=False
pixelperfectmenu=False

I only raise this because you are stating parameters that I don't see at all here. I'll try copying your given sample.
kmpapples May 7, 2019 @ 4:19pm
Yeah, just tried out new settings, this doesn't seem to affect the previously mentioned issues. My current GameConfig settings:
#version 5 [sound] mastervolume=80 musicvolume=80 ambientvolume=80 uivolume=80 effectsvolume=80 [graphics] vsync=True resolutionx=1920 resolutiony=1080 fullscreen=True exclusivefullscreen=True pixelperfectbattle=False pixelperfectmenu=False refreshrate=60 cagecursor=true vsynccount=1
kmpapples May 7, 2019 @ 8:13pm
Ah...It seems to have stopped after the opening movie and cut scene? weird
6 Eyes Studio  [developer] May 7, 2019 @ 8:24pm
More options: many of the options I gave you won't appear by default as they can't be changed in the menus (they're not meant to changed in general and are only useful if running into issues). Also, when a setting has the "default" value, it's often not written to the config.

Stopped: are you saying it seems to be behave correctly for you now? Or not quite?

One extra thing to try in settings is try "vsynccount=2" (or even 3) rather than "vsynccount=1", just to see if it helps.

Thanks :)
