Just to be clear to anyone who might be reading this thread, this is in reference to certain cosmetic options for character customization, there are still "just humans" in terms of races.

With that disclaimer out of the way: Yes, cool isn't it? More options is a good thing ^_^

oh god dont even mention that blasphemy. thank god the eyes are nowhere near as bad as that. i honestly dont think anybody could be as bad as whoever did the art for that without trying very very hard.

And it's because in nearly every fantasy setting you find that Elves are always painted as wonderful. Which also usually means arrogant and dismissive of ever other race and species and yet are still classed as the best.

Which is sadly what I found them played as in all the D&D games I've DM over the years.

Then you contrast this to the Dwarves. Someone needs to equal it out. :)

Well it depends on which world you are looking at. Not all the elves are from D&D. For example Dragon Prince has a much different elf kin than Record of Lodus wars, and Tera's High elves are much more different than Everquest. You have the evil elves, which D&D has listed as the drows. Elves comes in many tastes. I do not consider them an evil race, I see them as responsible nature loving.

But pretty much all the ones you've mentioned are described is somehow being a special race. And that what I was talking about that tweaks my nose about them.

It's not about wether or not they are good. Its about how they are treated as superior to every other race in most settings.

Of the 13 Different books I can see on my books shelves from different worlds only in 1 of them are they actually treated as inferior or equal. And thats only because every other race banded together and cursed them.

Now if Shifters, Goblinoids, Dwarves, Orcs, Genasi, the other Fey folk got the same treatement somewhere along the way I'm sure I would feel the same.

Well there is certain mythology about fantasy Elves, which is of course based on real life mythology. Or maybe that real world "mythology" is actual history. There is a lot of old information that may just be real. Who knows. The point is they are generally considered an old race, an "Elder" race if you will. With advanced knowledge, magic, technology etc. If that "tweaks your nose" well I suggest you write a book with a different kind of Elf. I really like Dark Sun elves myself.

Also, Mhblis, if I were an elf and you were human I'd kick you out of my forest too. No hard feelings.

It's in the character customization screen in the Guild. There are a couple of options for fantasy race skin colors and pointy ears.

also, new, there is succubus cosplay outfits with their own pointy ears. Enjoy.
