Cloud save and steam deck
I just got my deck and was looking forward to playing this game on it first but it's only got New Game as an option. Does that mean the cloud save isnt working on this device or maybe this game in general?

Any ideas on this one would be great.

Cloud Saves, to my knowledge, are only between the same OS for this game. We are aware of this for Mac < -- > Windows issues where you have to manually pass the save file back and forth.

Ahh ok yeah never tried it between anything other than windows. Makes sense. Thank you

When the cloud setup was created for Fell Seal, the Steam deck didn't exist yet, so I admit I'm not 100% sure what the current settings are (I'll have to double check). Since we're using "auto cloud saves from Steam", I would assume it just got added and your game on Steam Deck will be saved to the Clouds, meaning you should be able to find your save files on another, different, Steam Deck device.

But, sadly, the cloud save files aren't shared across platforms currently (that's something we'll remedy with future projects, but most likely not for Fell Seal).

I'm not too familiar with the Steam Deck myself at this point, but if you can access folder structures on it, you can absolutely manually copy your PC save files to it and they will be 100% compatible. Although I know it's not exactly what you were looking for in this case...

I hope it helps!

Yeah I have no idea how to access the files so far, but im sure as more and more people get them we will learn about all that.

Steam Deck is just ArchOS with the Steam frontend on it. You can hold the power button and 'switch to desktop mode' where it's just a standard desktop environment. You can SSH into it or do anything else like a standard OS. I'm actually surprised there's a platform hook at all for this particular game because some of my other Windows games that I run on Steam via proton transfer the savegames just fine, and they're ancient.

For Fell Seal, like the dev said, just grab your savegames from your Documents\Fell Seal\ folder, and shove them into the equivalent location on your Steam Deck. I'm actually just about to do this myself given the response above.

Edit to give you the paths as well (google will show you this as well):
System Location
Windows %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Fell Seal\saves\
macOS (OS X) ~/Fell Seal/saves
Linux ~/Fell Seal/saves

Ug, just found this topic, and that's incredibly disappointing. It's not just moving the saves over manually once; you'd need to move them back and forth constantly every time you switched between Deck and PC so that your progress would be the same on both. It completely defeats the purpose of transferring them across. I strongly, strongly request that the developer look into this and have the save games transfer between OSes. Otherwise, I don't see how this can be marked as a "great on Deck" game.

Essentially, 6 Eyes has no current plans to change how the saves work because there is a chance that process could break everyone's saves, which they don't want to risk.

Agreed. Pretty rough to have to manually move saves. It should get a lower score for the deck tbh. Too bad.

Hi there, can you please clarify if you're having issues with the game itself running or something pertaining to Cloud Saves? If Cloud saves, please see the info earlier in this thread. If technical issues with the game not running, please make a separate thread in the bug reporting subforum here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/699170/discussions/1/

Thanks

Yes, no sense on giving this game a full compatibility tag on Steam deck. I appreciate it isn't the developers fault but this essential breaks the game to near useless for anyone who wants to use a steam deck.

Really bummed about the lack of Steam Cloud sync functionality between the Steam Deck and PC this game is the perfect take it back-and-forth type game and otherwise runs great on the Steam Deck (other than some of the text being too small to read)

Guys! I figured out how to solve this problem by enforce GeProton (I tried 7-33) on steam deck and it can load the cloud saves from Window! (Same issue when I try the Tomb Raider on steam deck! just use GeProton and so on~)

Anyway, still hope the dev support this nativly!
