mature story? Hmmm.
One of the features listed is that the game has a mature story. This brings some questions to mind.

Do you make decisions during the story segments of the game?

If so, are you forced to play the shining knight type hero who trots off to save the word and skip naked through the forest etc etc etc etcsauce.

Or, can you use you be hmm, how should I put it? Someone who's not quite so nice?

Now, I don't mean being full on psycho or anything. It's just that I'm a little bored with the whole "compassionate hero who saves the people" schtick that permeates so many games out there. Would be nice to throw in some anti-hero flavor or just... something.

Just what kind of 'role' can you really 'play' in this game's story? I hope someone understands where I'm coming from.

For the game: it is basically linear in nature with no "story / dialogue choices" (like Divinity Original Sin or something like that). There are, however, 2 different endings, which are obtainable on the same save file (don't have to do two games) as they're based on certain things you "do" as opposed to "narrative choices".

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask more.

So no, no option to "take the evil route" or anything like that.

"Mature story" is more in reference to "this isn't specifically geared toward kids", like the Pokemon series, or a story about "these destined teens set off on their journey of self-discovery / coming of age story" or a classic "zero to hero". Instead, the characters it focuses on are already-established people in their field for the most part, being a little older (only one character is in their 20s), and aren't "novices to combat", etc. While you can't do "Evil" or something like that, without spoiling the story that much, the game's narrative does raise some questions about "what is right", etc.

But to be clear: the main characters are "Arbiters", who are basically the police-type force of this story, so...that likely tells you what you might want to know, based on how you phrased your question.

Than the game is definitely not for you. All protagonists (maybe, except Yates - doctor/necromancer) are basically boy(girl)-scouts, always doing the right thing. It's definitely not a Witcher in terms of maturity of the story.
