In terms of what to to do next all depends on your goals for that character. Interested in getting Doublecast? Go for Druid (who also has poison, btw...a very nice spell). Want to get abilities to make your mana more efficient? Head toward Warmage and Sorcerer. More interested in buffs? Try Alchemystic. Plenty of caster types which would be good for continuing to improve your magic.
Curing status effects in an AoE, posioning (that does damage based on enemy HP) are handy to have.
I have a Fellblade / Plague Doctor with mystic shield that is great.
I would also recommend a Knight / Plague Doctor. Most of the time you will use melee attacks (defensive hit), or other Chivalry commands, but sometimes you dont need that, and Treatment will have a good substitution.
Try it out, if you like it let us know... can theory craft some great designes!
