Warmage spell damage problem
Let me open by saying that I absolutely love this game. What you've done with it so far, especially the non-story units (I like them too much to call them generic) is fantastic. I can't wait to see more.

There's a slight problem with the damage numbers for warmage spells, the Bolt line of spells say they do 1.2x (Element) damage to the target, the Burst line of spells do 1.15x (Element) damage to targets in an area, and Pulsar is supposed to do 2.1x non elemental damage. But the Burst spells are way too strong for these numbers to be accurate.

Currently against an enemy with 0 resistance to all six elements, Bolt spells for my Warmage/Fellblade are doing 81 damage, Burst are doing 113, and Pulsar is doing 95.
Burst should be weaker than Bolt, and Pulsar should be noticably stronger than Burst, right?

Well, I think I found it. Digging in the abilities xml, it looks like the burst spells are actually mixed attack and magic (DmgSource ="kAtkMixed") so that's where the extra power is coming from. Thanks for the help, Conan!

As I unfortunately don't have access to the game itself atm, can you please take a closer look at the spells, I have some ideas on the situation.

1. Resistances--Note that not only are there specific elemental resists, but also the general resistance stat which reduces all magic damage done to that hero / creature. Now obviously, general resist stat works the same on all elements, but just making sure you know this so you can have all your factors on the table.

2. For the spells themselves, can you look at the spell description? I don't have this memorized (and can't check now), but do all those spells you mention say they are "Skills" or "Spells" or a mix thereof? Also, do they mention whether they target "Resist" or "Defense". Perhaps some of those spells are different offensively / defensively.

Just some example of the general interface I'm talking about looking at.

They are all listed as Spells vs. Res in the ability tree screen.

Gotcha. Seems that further investigation will be required. I'll do what I can when I have the ability to do so this evening. In the meantime, certainly post an update if you find further info / "the answer".

OOoooo, that would certainly account for the big difference in numbers. So the xml file says that it has scaling from mixed attack and magic, but does the ingame skill description say that? The reason why I ask is, if it's not listed ingame, then 6 Eyes should take a look at things.

Nothing in game indicates it's a mixed damage attack. The exact description is "Deals 1.15x (Element) damage in a small area around the character.
MP 14 Range Self Area 5, Vert 4 Shape Cross Type Spell Vs Res"

Related attributes should be part of Skills description imho, nice catch Starsinger!
