Having hard time finding players

I recently reinstalled the game and first time I have been having a hard time finding players. I tried on Fri and during the weekend at different hours and more often than not it's been quite slow or at times impossible to gather at least two people (not even talking about full squad), especially for horde maps. Previously it used to be almost instantaneous for me.

I looked at the steam stats and I see almost 2500 active players, over 6000 during peak. And it's only on steam/pc. So where are they? Is there a problem with matchmaking or most veteran players stopped playing? I mainly do daily challenges or horde on hard.

Is there some kind of a bug with matchmaking or was I just blocked by most of the players during the last few months when I wasn't playing? :)

same here, i used to play a long time ago and just start playing again it kinda hard to get other player on horde mode, hell i am really grateful if i got 1 other player to play in horde mode (assuming they using their resourches)

I recommend doing quick play runs to find populated lobbies. I am also new to the game, I suspect it is because it is almost 5 years old so player count is not as high as it used to be.

You will find players in horde modes and challenge modes(those where you can collect secret documents), if you are looking for normal missions, then barely anyone play those.

Try different difficulties in whatever your trying to match for.
For easy level missions people generally won't que up.
For really hard settings they won't either, you need organization for those mostly.
Horde mode can almost always match you on regular mode, sometimes it takes a few minutes.
Horde mode XL still doesnt have as many players, maybe it's most groups joining, but there are players.
For some reason I've never matched to a XL game, but if I start an XL game, I usually get joiners.
So try starting up a mode you want to play and see if people join.
