How would yuri and natsuki react to being club president?
I'm surprised this isn't brought up half the time: if yuri or natsuki react to being club president specifically? I know dan said they would've reactes the same way, but i don't think they'd react the EXACT same way. I can see yuri turning the whole game into a silent hill style game and natsuki would try to keep the game in act 1 the whole game till say....act 4. Idk how natsuki would handle it since she's the only girl to not have a mental breakdown

i'd never thought to explore this concept before but god i love it... i agree with you too, yuri making it her own sort of creepy that's not quite the same as monika's sounds great

Well unfortunately it would be tea club instead of literature club.... Meanwhile for Natsuki is Manga reading club...

We see 3 examples of how Sayori reacts to becoming Club President. In the normal ending we see Sayori fall down the same path Monika did. She specifically mentions that "she knows everything Monika did". In the secret ending (where you delete Monika early in the game) Sayori flips out and kills herself. Nothing happened earlier in the game to prepare her for this moment. Lastly, we have the alternate ending where Sayori thanks the player for spending so much time in the club.

The common factor in all this seems to be that Sayoris "revelation" was buffered by the actions taken within the game. Without a buffer, such as in the secret ending, Sayori cannot handle the influx of knowledge that her world is a lie, driving her to commit suicide. In the normal ending, where only Monikas actions act as a buffer, she falls down the same rabbit hole. In the alternate ending, where the player unlocks all the character scenes, she's actually happy that the player had taken the time to do all this. In all these cases the prior actions taken within the game "prepare" her for the realization or, in the case of the secret ending, there is no preparation.

It's hard to say how the other two characters would react, but this gives us an idea of how "prepared" they might be to accept that their world is a lie. If I had to guess Yuri might handle it a little better than Sayori, but Natsuki would probably handle this knowledge the best if only because of her assertiveness. If Natsuki was alone or with a stranger in the end she would have a hard time, but to learn the player was the "MC" this gives her some familiarity and her brash attitude would give her some stability. Yuri might not like the idea of someone always watching her and the memory of what she'd turned into would probably make her sick and want to avoid the player.

Lastly, Monika explains how the world around her seemed less real. She describes it like a gradual change rather than something that hit her all at once. It's safe to assume that she wasn't the replacement for any prior club presidents because what happens to Sayori does so all at once, not gradually. This means she was the first president and unaware of what happens when she stopped being the president, unaware that the role of sentience shifts to the next President. If Natsuki and Yuri were the original Vice Presidents we could assume they'd be in the same starting position as Sayori, but what happens if Monika didn't delete Sayori or the game?

What happens if the player deletes Sayori for the same reason they deleted Monika and Natsuki or Yuri are next in line? What happens if, like Sayori before, they are aware of the prior actions of the game before gaining sentience? Can you imagine how terrifying it must be to not only learn your world is a lie but that there is someone actively playing with not only your emotions but your very life? Natsuki might try to fight back somehow, seeing the player for the monster they are, but I don't believe Yuri would have it in her and would either shut down completely or find some way to kill herself.

Either way, even if Natsuki or Yuri were the next in line and gained sentience before Sayori I don't see the outcome being any different. One of the downsides to becoming the president is that when the game is turned off you enter a nightmare where your sanity is shredded. This would drive anyone crazy and they'd fall into the same situation as Monika where they'd try and convince the player to never turn the game off again. Even if they somehow manage this there is no way out and at any moment the game could be shut off due to power failure or the computer being damaged, which would trap them in a nightmare limbo, unable to move or even die. When faced with such a fate I'd imaging Natsuki and Yuri would both eventually try and delete themselves, if not find some other means to kill themselves.

There is no happy ending regardless the scenario.

To summarize my above statement.

Result A
Instead of Sayori, Natsuki and Yuri were the initial Vice Presidents. Yuri would fare a little better than Sayori did with Natsuki faring the best under this situation. Both eventually learn they are trapped with nowhere to go and that turning off the game is a nightmare, so they try and convince the player to leave the game on. The player either deletes them like they did with Monika OR Natsuki, Yuri or even Sayori in this situation would eventually try and find a way to kill themselves to avoid a possible eternity of nightmare.

Result B
The player deletes Sayori and either Natsuki or Yuri become the next president and gain sentience. Like Sayori, their "memory" is tied to what had happened during the playthrough. They are not only aware of what happened to Sayori, but Monika as well as the actions from the very moment the player started the game. They know the player has the power and willingness to end their life on top of learning their world is a lie. With no way out and a living nightmare either way both eventually try and kill themselves on their own terms rather than letting the player toy with their lives.

Alternatively, if one of the other Dokis was the initial president instead of Monika the outcome would most likely be the same, but the game world might be a bit different. It could be something as simple as the club being about something else OR that the world ended up being a different kind of game, such as Natsuki involving more action minigames or Yuri wanting a much longer story to better explore the world.

If this were an option though Monika would have most likely changed things a bit more. It's best to assume that the world would remain unchanged and it would still be the Literature Club. Monika might have always had the power to make these changes, but opted instead to not make such drastic alterations to the game. If the other Dokis followed this same scenario the game itself wouldn't really have been any different than what we have now with one of the others making the same decisions Monika made.

How different would it be? Because monika had the club room go to outer space. I wonder what would the others turn the world outside the club room

Still a better game than "Silent Hill: Homecoming".

Would actually love to see DDLC's locations in a SH style - rusted and bloodstained metal floors and walls, barbed wire, entire sections of wall composed of flesh, etc.

I don't think it was the room going to space but rather the room was the only thing Monika didn't delete at this point. She wanted to make sure there would be no further interruptions, so everything outside this room was erased with only empty space remaining.

I mention how the game wouldn't be all that different because the game would have forced the other characters into the same position Monika was in, which would mean that the Doki put in place as Club President wouldn't be a poem option. The game would also force the player not to interact with her for long and instead focus on one of the others that are tied to the poem minigames. Given that Monika was aware of the oblivion awaiting the completion of the game whomever is made President instead would also know this.

I believe the game would differ only in how the character deals with the panic of knowing their life is about to end the moment the player finishes the game or, even worse, that they will be stuck in the static purgatory for potentially the rest of eternity given they can't move or die in this state. I can take a few guesses based on how Monika explained her process of realization and how she acted in the end.

Monika
She explains how the world began to feel less real and how the most expressive poems felt empty to her. This means that, as she began to realize the world wasn't real she attempted to occupy her mind with familiar activities. When she meets the player she tries to play along at first and when finding her own file before the game began she resisted the temptation to delete herself. Monika had shown incredible willpower under these circumstances to maintain a level head.

Sayori
She's dealt with depression her whole life. She didn't seem like she'd sought any form of help, most likely keeping this to herself even around her family. I can see this going one of two ways in that either dealing with this has mentally prepared her for the "worst case scenario" and accepting the world is a lie could either be a good or bad thing for her mental health OR that it would be too much added to the weight already on her shoulders, resulting in potential suicide. She couldn't really talk to anyone about this because she was already keeping some dark secrets, so the knowledge that she's truly alone in this might be too much to bare.

Natsuki
For some reason I imagine this would open a few doors for Natsuki. I don't believe she would dwell as much on the world not being real as she would the new powers she seems to be awakening. Perhaps it's because I'm focusing on how each world result might be different, but Natsuki seems like the oddball in this situation. Natsuki seems defensive, possibly thinking others see her as weak and always ready to prove them wrong. If given time she would probably maintain a healthy mental state by exploring the bizarre side of this realization. If there was a president that would change DDLC the most I believe it would be Natsuki in this situation.

Yuri
Yuri is a closed-off individual throughout the start of the game. Like Sayori, I don't believe she'd have anyone to cope with in this situation. Unlike Sayori, however, she seems like she'd be her own best company most of the time. Realizing she is alone would probably have the least impact on her because she could never really open up to others in the first place. How would this change compared to the others? Well, I believe that knowing nobody else is real would embolden her. Speaking to others would be no different than talking to your reflection at this point, so she'd be less shy as she began to cope with what was happening. When DDLC begins Yuri wouldn't be as shy as she was before, though might begin to fumble once she realizes the "player" is real too. After spending most of her life locked away in her own head, coaxed to come out of her shell with the knowledge everyone around her was worthless, I believe she would become desperate to speak to a real person again and the world would begin to crumble sooner as she makes bolder decisions than Monika made. We wouldn't know Yuri for the "shy type" we do in normal DDLC and rather we'd have something closer to her "2nd half" counterpart.
