How do i use generators?

I started a new game, bought a generator, went to a new ship, and deployed it. it didn't do anything. It isn't scanning and everything still requires power. Do I need to turn it on after deploying it?

There seems to be a bug where they don't deploy correctly. You can work around it by leaving the map and coming back. When you return, the generator will be active.

or just save game and quit to main menu then hit continue, you'll be back at your spot with it active

How do you deploy them? left-click does nothing and right-click offers to transmute them.

Ah the place to click its on the left hand column, I was trying to use it in inventory. oddly that works for energy cells but not this?

Did you remember to buy a generator from the shop? The generator will appear on the left in the PDA.

If I remember correctly the energy cells are working through the Inventory because that is how it was working back when the game was Early Access. After a few updates we got the left column on the Scanner screen.

For specific items that work only through Inventory, you should add the bubble that adds +2 armor/20 turns and the stick that adds +10% damage/10 turns. They can only be accessed through menu.
