Anyway, as always - start by installing Sneaky Upgrade - yes, that's what I recommend for people having problems with widescreens, but this fan patch just comes with so many fixes and tweaks, there is no reason not to do it. You install it to:
Check if it works, if there is still a problem with resolution being out of range, go to:
And there is going to be SneakyOptions.ini in there. Open it with text editor (obviously, I recommend Notepad++, but a normal one should work as well.
Under [Screen] section you'll find lines:
Change CustomResWidth and CustomResHeight to whatever your native screen resolution is.
After that change Resolution to 0. Example (1440x900):
