"Movies" not working?

I have been playing the game for a while now. Very enjoyable. However, I have noticed there is an option in the main menu/title screen labeled "Movies." After selecting it. I am taken to another menu, where there are, as of this post, three (3) pictures with the rest blank. And two pages titled "I" and "II" respectively. I first assumed they are as titled, "movies." Cutscenes or whatnot. But after clicking on either of the three. Nothing happens other than a quick pause and the title screen music resets.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is that simply all there is to it? I have tried validating system files, but nothing comes up as broken? What am I missing? And is anyone else having this problem right now? Your help is appreciated.

Yeah they are cutscenes, first of which should be the opening 2D cutscene introducing Shen Nong Nine Founts(Springs). There are 12 cutscenes altogether and normally they would unlock in "Movies" after you watch them in the storyline. Something must goes wrong and I will tell it to the developers. I just looked online and saw them! I didn't even realize I was missing out on these haha. As when I start the game it just skips to the first realtime cutscene. And further in the game there's a space that just left me confused. Explains a lot actually, and thank you!! Hopefully they can fix this for me somehow. Most of them are made available online. But being able to view them along with the story and subtitles would be nice also! Thanks again for clearing that up!

You mean you didn't press any key or button and it just start with the realtime cutscene? Well that would be a confusing prologue…Maybe you can restart the game and I think the first 2 cutscenes should be unlocked at least.

I actually started a new game twice to be sure and everytime it's the same. I didn't think of it much at first. I simply passed it off as an artistic decision lol. But after viewing it online. It makes a ton more sense now. Still not too sure about what's going on though since none of it is in English. But the scenes do connect a bit better now that I've seen it.

Actually you can guess cause there aren't much dialogue. For example, in the 3rd cutscene, the girl provoked to the protagonists and accidentally knocked Yue Jinzhao off the cliff. Even so I do think English subtitles are necessary.

The movies play fine for me.

This sounds like a codec issue. The movies appear to simply be in wmv format (you can find them in "Sword & Fairy 6\Pal6_Data\StreamingAssets\Movies"). I recommend downloading the Codec Tweak Tool from http://www.codecguide.com/download_other.htm and detecting/removing broken DirectShow filters and re-registering the base DirectShow filters (both of these are found in the "Fixes" section of the program).

Thank you both for the assistance! I have done what you said. It did not seem to work intially. So to be safe I went as far as to even update the codec I was using and removed all the movie files and revalidated the game just to be sure. It seems to work now. Thank you! I highly appreciate the help from both of you!!

Back at this again with an update. Just wanted to clerify for anyone else who might be having this problem since I had a run into it again with the last two animated movies. Every other movie works fine, but the last two came up worse as they didn't even unlock in the movies gallery. Not until I started up the DLC and reloaded the game. They appear now. But are not playing. Could be my codec (AGAIN) since the Softstar logo stopped showing up for awhile around the same time. But was fixed using the above Codec Tweaker method from before. Fortunately, they are viewable from within the game files. Everyother cutscene works fine.

Also, just realized a lot of the cutscenes are in WMV format. So my mistake for using "Realtime,"
before. Those played fine. Though, I might check over them again to be sure I viewed them all and they are working later.

Have the same problem with the two last anime cutscenes :(. They didnt even play in the movie gallery. All the other are working fine and my codecs seem ok. Maybe its a bug?.
I double checked with youtube videos, these two last anime cutscene doest trigger where theyre supposed to occur in english pc gameplays either.

Edit: Confirmed bug with the english version. If i change the language to chinese (simplified) on steam they work again as intended.
Since the developers won't be actively fixing it anymore can someone kindly create a patch for this? I think the problem maybe is in how the game looks for the name of these files in the English version. Its a shame.

Edit 2: They dont seem to work on traditional chinese either. Confirmed that they only work in chinese simplified for now.
