Why did Shouzou Kaga decide to use SRPG studio for his next game?
I was curious because isn't he like the creator of Fire Emblem? I would have imagined he would be able to get some sort of funding to make a game with a more impressive engine? Although I am certain this game is still good, but it still looks kind of cheap? Its kind of like a big rpg director decides to make his next rpg with rpg maker, although games made with that engine can still be good.

Probably because it was his last hurrah/a free side project before he retired his style of games.

This game and its sequels were released to the public for *free many years ago in Japanese only. You can definitely get better quality than what we have out of SRPG Studio from this game, but I imagine he wasn't all too fussed about it because of the former reasons.

The reason it is paid is because of some translation work for a global audience.

Because Kaga Shozo was once accused of copyright infringement for publishing Berwick Saga similar to Fire Emblem

No, you're mixing it up with Tearring Saga, in which case Nintendo filled a lawsuit against Tirnanog and Kaga because of copyright infringements, Kaga won this one. And then Nintendo appealed and won the appeal on the grounds of unfair concurrency.

Berwick Saga didn't even credited neither Tirnanog nor Kaga, it had no problem at all.

He should have used gba engine and made a romhack, it's the best option. This game is just a mess. ♥♥♥♥ animations, framrate, clunky controls (esc works like alt f4, while alt f4 doesn't work at all).
